TVHS teachers land top spots in Division Journalism Training

Two teachers from Tappo Vocational High School earned top spots in various writing categories during the three-day Division Journalism Training for School Paper Advisers conducted by the Schools Division Office of Kalinga on August 2–3 and 8.

English teachers Caroline L. Banawa and Emily S. Banggawan were among the recognized School Paper Advisers during the training, bringing distinction to Tappo VHS through their achievements in journalism.

Banawa secured 4th place in English Feature Writing, while Banggawan garnered 1st place in Filipino Column Writing, 2nd place in English Feature Writing, and 4th place in Pagsulat ng Lathalain.

The recognition highlighted the teachers’ skills and commitment to campus journalism as they continue to guide and mentor student journalists through their school paper work.

The three-day training gathered School Paper Advisers from different schools in the division to enhance their competencies in campus journalism and strengthen their capacity to produce and mentor quality school publications.

The accomplishments of Banawa and Banggawan added another achievement to Tappo VHS’s continuing involvement in campus journalism and its efforts to develop a stronger culture of journalism among its learners.

PNP Reminds TVHS Learners to Uphold Safety and Discipline

Personnel from the Philippine National Police (Pinukpuk MPS), led by PCMS Arnel Nalog, joined the first Monday of August flag-raising ceremony at Tappo Vocational High School, where they reminded students to prioritize safety, discipline, and responsible behavior.

During the activity, PCMS Nalog encouraged learners to observe road safety protocols, practice safety within the school premises, and avoid cutting classes. He emphasized that following school rules and exercising discipline are essential in maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment.

He also urged students to obey traffic regulations, use helmet properly, stay alert while traveling to and from school, and seek help from teachers or authorities whenever they encounter concerns affecting their safety.

The activity highlighted the continuing partnership between the school and the Philippine National Police in promoting student welfare, discipline, and peace and order within the school community.

TVHS conducts tree planting activity for 2026 Nutrition Month Celebration

Learners, teachers, and School Head Neill L. Mina of Tappo Vocational High School conducted a tree-planting activity at the lot behind the classrooms on July 22 as part of the 2026 Nutrition Month Celebration.

The participants planted coconut seedlings to promote environmental responsibility and encourage learners to help build a greener and healthier school community.

The activity also highlighted the importance of caring for the environment as part of promoting overall health and well-being.

TVHS, Apatan Council conduct Clean-Up Drive to promote a safer and healthier community

Tappo Vocational High School, in partnership with the Barangay Council of Apatan, conducted a clean-up drive on July 17 to promote environmental cleanliness and help create a safer and healthier community.

The activity gathered teaching and non-teaching personnel, learners, and barangay officials who worked together in cleaning the school premises and nearby public areas.

School Head Neill L. Mina expressed appreciation to the Barangay Council of Apatan for its support, emphasizing that the activity strengthened cooperation between the school and the community while encouraging environmental responsibility among learners.

The clean-up drive forms part of the school's continuing efforts to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment through community partnership.

TVHS urges discipline and health compliance to keep learners safe and well

Learners of Tappo Vocational High School were reminded to observe discipline, prioritize safety, and comply with health programs during the flag-raising ceremony on July 13, reinforcing the school's commitment to promoting a safe and healthy learning environment.

Barangay Kagawad Mateo Bowat reminded students to practice self-discipline, obey school rules, and make responsible decisions for their own safety and the welfare of others. He also encouraged learners to become responsible members of the school and the community.

School Head Neill L. Mina reinforced the message by reminding students to maintain proper behavior, follow school policies, and actively support programs that contribute to a peaceful and orderly campus.

Meanwhile, School Nurse Nathaniel Denna encouraged female learners to regularly take ferrous sulfate tablets, emphasizing that the supplements are readily available at the school clinic to help prevent iron deficiency and promote better health.

The reminders highlighted the shared responsibility of school officials, local leaders, and learners in fostering a disciplined, healthy, and safe school environment.

DepEd Supervisors Monitor TVHS Programs

Tappo Vocational High School underwent a supervisory visit on July 9, 2026, as part of the Department of Education's continuing efforts to monitor school programs and provide technical assistance to teachers and school administrators.

The monitoring was conducted by Ma'am Rhoda Balao-as, the EPS in TLE- and Rhoda Balao-as and Ma'am Carolina Baggay, Southern Pinukpuk District PSDS.

They observed school operations, reviewed pertinent documents, and shared recommendations to further improve instructional delivery and program implementation especially in TLE.

The visit strengthened the school's commitment to continuous improvement by ensuring that its programs and teaching practices remain aligned with DepEd standards and responsive to learners' needs.
