August Cocoa Pruning + Spraying Timetable designed for wet-season black pod prevention:

Day 1 – Morning (Dry Weather Preferred)

Inspect your farm first. Mark all diseased pods and badly shaded branches.
Remove infected pods and burn/bury them outside the farm.
Prune low-hanging, crossing, or overcrowded branches to open up airflow.

Tip: Avoid cutting more than 30% of the canopy at once to reduce stress.

Day 1 – Afternoon (Same Day)

Spray fungicide (copper-based like copper oxychloride or Bordeaux mixture, or a recommended systemic/contact mix) over pods, trunks, and branches.
Cover freshly cut areas to reduce fungal entry points.

Day 2–3

Monitor for any missed diseased pods — remove immediately.
If heavy rain falls within 6 hours of spraying, reapply.

Every 14 Days in August

Re-spray preventively (shorter intervals of 10 days if rains are heavy and continuous).
Keep the ground clean — no pod husks or leaves rotting near trunks.

If you follow this cycle, you’ll reduce black pod spread by over 70% even in the heaviest rains..
