REMULLA ANNOUNCES ENHANCED CURFEW TO KEEP MINORS OFF STREETS AFTER 10 P.M.
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has announced the implementation of an enhanced curfew ordinance for minors aged 18 years old and below, aimed at strengthening public safety and maintaining order in communities.
According to Jonvic Remulla, minors will no longer be allowed to stay in public places after 10:00 p.m. unless they can present proof of employment or proof of school attendance.
Speaking during a press conference on Monday, April 6, Remulla said the stricter curfew policy is part of the government’s effort to reinforce discipline and prevent incidents involving minors during late hours.
“We already have enhanced curfew ordinances for those 18 years old and below.
If you do not have proof of employment or education, you are no longer allowed to stay on the streets after 10 p.m.,” Remulla said.
Aside from the curfew policy, the DILG also highlighted additional measures intended to maintain peace and order in public spaces.
These include the prohibition of going shirtless in public places and restrictions on the use of videoke after 10:00 p.m., except during fiestas or events that have secured the necessary permits.
The agency said local government units and barangay officials are expected to strictly enforce these regulations to ensure the protection of minors and to minimize disturbances and potential crimes during nighttime hours.
Authorities are also calling on parents and community members to cooperate in ensuring that minors comply with the curfew and other public order policies.
