Forbes China also listed Wang under their 30 Under 30 Asia 2019 list which consisted of 30 influential people under 30 years old who have had a substantial effect in their fields.

we were sort of different
observed in such ways ---
that i am loud and you are silent
you're neat and i am messy
you'd prefer silence over noise
i just love the flares of the sun
while you'd choose the frigidity of the moon

somehow, i used to think
that people with different perspectives will never get along

and we,
we're absolutely different
when it comes to dealing with differences

i remember how it all started

i was at the cafeteria
exhausted, hungry and alone
i was hunting for a table but they all seemed to be occupied
and then, my eyes flittered over yours,
your place
and there was vacancy as if it were made just for me
so i ambled through your table
and
without hesitations, i asked if i could share it with you

of course, you just flashed that smile
a cute indiction of your yes

and it was that smile

oh God, it was that smile
the smile i started wishing to be mine, appearing in my dreams

it will always be that smile

i guess that was the start of our friendship
the start of our story

everyday, just like in the movies,
you would always wait for me so we could hang out after school
you would always tell me your favorites you would always be there, listening to my hyperactive voice as i tell you about my day
you like it when i was exaggerting
and demonstrating something with big actions

i became so comfortable to you ---
you became my best friend

yet, it all went down to too much closeness

thump. .

my heart finally gave out and
i started feeling the confirmation that all along, i was in love with you

i tried stopping it but it was overflowing
it came to conquer me
and day after day
you started showing me your gestures of interest
your stare became stickier
your concerns became more intense

i couldn't help but think that maybe,

you started feeling what i used to feel towards you

and that i wish we could be more than 'just best friends'

I was worried that maybe our feet were buried on this waiting game
and i've known you for being innocuous who
always hated the idea of first moves

so i risked

i was boneheaded because i stuffed myself with too much assumptions but
and all these time, you were just being nice
----because i'm your friend

and you will never exceed that line

i wanted to punch myself because i could no longer look at you without feeling anything
while all you could ever see was just the friend you wished to keep for life

and i was cut in halves

a part of me is thankful because you wanted to keep me even just as a friend

but the other half of me wishes that there was another table from the cafeteria that day

and that i wished,
you never flashed me that smile
