The Cook-Out by North Point Socials is once again here! It's a weekend pop up that is lovingly curated and brings the BEST FOOD in Bacolod in one convenient location! The pop up is happening on September 11-13 4pm onwards and there's music, events and of course GREAT food.

Here's what we're excited for! Our longtime favorite Pacholo's Pulled Pork is now here at the cookout bringing their tasty pulled pork and chorizo sandwiches along with their tasty FILIPINO style backribs!

Sprout Burger will also be back and they have a special char-grilled burger that isn't served in their stores! The smoky taste and juicy patty with premium meat from Sant Jordi Meat Corner will be served only at The Cook-Out by North Point Socials.

JamBac Jerk Chicken InasaL with their exquisite take on Jamaican Jerk Chicken combined with chicken inasal . Amazing flavor combination!

The competition will be fierce in the backribs area as Yummy Yummy will be there too with their backribs. Meat & Ember with their smoked meats and crowd favorite Smokin Good Stuff Bacolod with their famous meat platters. It's a grill-off and you the customers will be the judge! Who will sell out first?

But here's a newcomer that's even got us excited! Nolew - a famous "hidden gem" restaurant is entering the cookout with a new menu dedicated to just this pop up. We've blogged about them before and we're excited to see what they have in store for pop up visitors!

In the dessert space Fria Ice cream, will be there serving their tasty ice cream with unique flavors!

Oh, and Bahn Mi Grillers will be back.

Yay.

Sir and Maam Restaurant is an amazing restaurant located on Rizal Street in Silay City! 📍🏛️ They serve yummy Filipino comfort food! 🇵🇭🍲 They have been open for over 60 years, and their food is just as delicious today as it was back then.

We tried everything on the menu! 😋 First, we had their famous pork and beans. 🐷🫘 It is made right in their kitchen and tastes super rich and creamy. You also have to try the dinuguan! 🥘 It is really thick, almost like chocolate pudding. 🍫

Next, we tasted the rellenong bangus (stuffed fish) 🐟 and our absolute favorite, the morcon (a tasty ground meat roll)! 🍖

But the number one most popular dish is the Lechon Kawali! 🥓 The meat is cooked perfectly, and the skin is so super crunchy! 🤤

The best time to visit Sir and Maam is right before lunchtime. 🕛 That way, the food is freshly cooked, but the big lunch crowds aren't there yet!

Brownout na naman, daily even weekdays so napaisip ako. A friend's daughter had to go to the mall 4 times this week just to study.

What if schools that are equipped with generators or solar setups, barangay halls, or even NGC used their power to help? They could set up a safe, bright room or area with tables and chairs. They could open this space from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM every night, (the usual time of the scheduled brownouts) just for students to study.

And ka laway man mag hambal just let the students go to the mall to study. Damo distractions.

I know this might cost extra money or mean more work for the teachers. To help out, maybe parents could chip in a little bit of money to pay the teachers who stay late. Parents could also volunteer to take turns watching the kids themselves.

🇵🇭 Sir and Ma'am Restaurant in Silay City has been serving up delicious, consistent favorites for over 60 years! 🍲

We tried the whole menu, and here are the absolute must-haves:

Pork and Beans: Made from scratch, rich, and super creamy! 🫘

Dinuguan: So thick and rich, it's almost like chocolate pudding! 🍫

Rellenong Bangus: Perfectly stuffed. 🐟

Morcon: Their signature savory ground meat roll. 🍖

Lechon Kawali: The crowd favorite! Perfectly roasted meat with ultra-crunchy skin. 🐖✨

⏰ Pro-Tip: Head there just before lunchtime to beat the lunch rush and get the food fresh out of the kitchen!

Chef JP Anglo and I go way back. We're the OG food masters here in Bacolod City.

I have a really old interview with him way back in 2013 when he was first starting out and he had just wrapped up filming Masterchef philippines for kids.

Back then, I also brought him to this hidden Indian carinderia in Villamonte (The now closed Pure Indian Restaurant) and hung out at his Mai Pao booth for MassKara.

That's 13 years ago! 🤣🤣 We were both young and hungry. 🤣🤣 Incidentally this year The Bacolod Food Hunters will be turning 20 years old.

Anyway, we caught up at Next Pizza and he gave me an awesome customized knife by Nacionale Bladeworks!

Which I appreciated! But I don't cook 🤣

As we discussed, he told me that one of his earliest childhood food memories was eating chicken inasal by the beach and trying "sisi." Consequently, I recommended that he visit Chay Letty at Punta Taytay, and he did!

So yeah! Thank you Chef JP Anglo a real "Tumandok" of Bacolod City, Maybe we do a food tour of bacolod soon? 🤣

Please stop asking him for knives 🤣🔪🤣🤣

Craving a seriously good, ultra-crunchy fried chicken sandwich? 🤤🍔

You need to check out this secret local gem in Bacolod called Chick ‘n Shack ! It's tucked away right behind the 77 gas station, directly across from Jollibee La Salle. 📍BS Aquino drive

Their menu is super short and sweet, so naturally, we had to get everything! 🤫

🐓Holy Shack Chicken Sandwich paired with golden, crispy onion rings 🍗🧅
