Today, the Church honor 𝐒𝐭. 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞, an Augustinian priest and the 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐬. Renowned for his humility, compassion, and unwavering devotion to God, he offered prayers and sacrifices for the faithful departed, entrusting them to the Lord’s mercy.

As we celebrate his feast, may we be inspired by his example of faith and charity, and may we remain dedicated in prayer and obedience to God.

𝐁𝐄𝐘𝐎𝐍𝐃 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄. To commemorate the 240-hours completion of the students' On-The-Job Training (OJT) program, the College of Engineering (CEN) held a culmination event at the University Gymnasium, September 9.

With the theme "Lighting the Path, Building the Future", the event highlighted the skills and knowledge the students developed during their training. It also served to recognize the time and efforts of each student invested.

Moreover, the event recognized the department's partner companies, presenting them tokens of appreciation for allowing students to learn from their hands-on training practices in their chosen industries.

"To our host companies, URC La Carlota Distillery, URC SONEDCO, Herbanext Laboratories, Inc., BISCOM, and VMC— thank you for opening your doors to us. You gave us more than just training; you gave us real-world lessons we will carry for life. To our mentors, supervisors, and operators, thank you for your patience, your guidance, and for treating us not just as trainees but as future engineers." Claire Dawn Macanan expressed in her OJT testimony.

𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐑 & 𝐒𝐎𝐀𝐑: Tigers Unleash Superhero Spirit in Welcoming Rites 2025

The College of Engineering gathered at the University Football Field today, September 9, for the annual Welcoming Rites 2025 with the theme “Gears Aligned: Forging the Future Together.”

Freshmen students took the spotlight as they proudly showcased their assigned superhero costumes. Each department brought Marvel characters to life—Civil Engineering as Iron Man, Mechanical Engineering as Hulk, Chemical Engineering as Dr. Strange, Electrical Engineering as Thor, Electronics Engineering as Black Panther, and Computer Engineering as Spiderman.

Electrical Engineering first year representatives Nehemiah Ivan Tayactac and Catherine Estil held as Champion in best in costume, while Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering held as First and Second respectively.

The event was then followed by activities prepared by each organization’s presidents and officers, allowing the freshmen to interact with one another and build lasting bonds. This marked the beginning of the academic journey for the new batch of engineering students, showcasing not only fun and unity but also the roaring spirit of the Engineering Tigers

𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄. The College of Engineering set a blazing wintry in the Tiger's Assembly with a theme of "Born to Roar: Riding the Gale of Greatness" in the University Gymnasium, September 9.

The Tiger's Assembly officially kick off with a freshmen walk and tranferees spearheaded by the Engineering Student Council (ESC) and accompanied by the officers of thirteen different organizations at the University Gymnasium.

The assembly commenced with the formal introduction of program heads, faculty, and staff, followed by the oath-taking ceremony for officers of various internal and external departmental organizations, led by Engr. Alvin Go Ping.

"As one of the College of Engineering, we may encounter a difficult journey and I would like to encourage everyone to embrace every challenges, seize for every opportunity throughout our journey and dream Big!" Engr. Lea Joy Hiponia, Dean of the College of Engineering shared a heartwarming message.

Moreover, the welcoming rites for the freshmen and tranferees will be in the afternoon to be accompanied by the councils, their respective organizations and fourth years.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan have stepped down from his post, Malacañang confirmed on Sunday. His resignation takes effect on September 1, 2025.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed Vince Dizon, currently the Secretary of Transportation, as the head of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Dizon is tasked to lead reforms in the agency amid controversies surrounding alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

Bonoan’s resignation came after weeks of scrutiny over questionable projects and contract awards under the DPWH’s multi-billion-peso flood control program. In previous statements, Bonoan said he would accept accountability but maintained he did not tolerate corruption.

With Dizon moving to the DPWH, Atty. Giovanni Lopez, Undersecretary for Administration, Finance, and Procurement, will serve as Acting Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Malacañang also announced the creation of an Independent Commission to Investigate Flood Control Projects, which will review past programs and recommend actions to ensure accountability. The changes signal the administration’s push to restore public trust in one of the country’s largest infrastructure agencies.

𝐖𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 & 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝: 𝐈𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐏 𝐔𝐍𝐎-𝐑 𝐒𝐂 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲

Gathering Electronics Engineering students for an afternoon of inspiration, camaraderie, and celebration, the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines UNO-R Student Chapter (IECEP UNO-R SC) held its First General Assembly at the Engineering AVR today, September 3.

The program opened with remarks from Chester Bacusa, Internal President, who encouraged his fellow students to pursue their path with determination and passion. Faculty members, introduced by IECEP adviser Engr. Rue Gustilo, were warmly welcomed as pillars of guidance for the department.

One of the program highlights was the induction of the newly elected IECEP-SC officers for 2025–2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter of leadership for the organization. Students also enjoyed an icebreaker activity, special performances, and games that fostered unity within the ECE community.

“As we begin, I invite everyone to open your hearts and minds, to be inspired, to learn, and to engage. Let this gathering ignite a stronger passion within us—to continue striving not only for our personal dreams, but also for the advancement of our profession and the service of society," said Chester Bacusa, Internal President in his opening remarks.

The General Assembly successfully strengthened bonds among students, faculty, and officers, setting the tone for a year of growth and shared achievements in the ECE department.

Overwhelmed and trapped in the grind, a cycle that never ends.
We keep chasing our degrees,
The pressure to conform, to perform, we never rest.

But at what cost?
Suffocated dreams and passions that leaves our whole being depressed?

However, some broke free, and found success in their own way. Measuring it not by grades, but by the love of learning each day.

They persevered and faced challenges without doubt and fear, that is for their future, a future we can adhere.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐓. 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐇𝐈𝐏𝐏𝐎

Today, we celebrate 𝗦𝘁. 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗼, one of the greatest Christian philosophers and theologians of antiquity. His wisdom continues to shape both the life of the Church and the understanding of humanity’s search for truth and meaning.

He devoted his life to leading people toward God, leaving a legacy that bridges faith and reason. His works remind us that true peace is found only in God’s presence.

Join us as we honor the 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲, and may his teachings inspire us to live with faith, humility, and love.

𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐅𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐑. The Electrical Engineering Student Organization (EESO) and Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers - Student Chapter (IIEE - SC) held their first general assembly at the University Auditorium, August 26.

The assembly was full of life as they developed their bonds and relationship with each other through student-engaging games and activities, showing the spirit of camaraderie that the Electrical Engineering Department posseses.

One highlight of the event was the official welcoming remarks of Engr. Rose Jean Rosco–Electrical Engineering's Department Head.

"Wherever excellence deepened by innovation, we should not only be spectators of those who toil and those who strive to achieve excellence and those, whose innovations touched the lives of others, who also shares the culture of others because we are not simply audience or beneficiaries of the excellence that was prompted in many years of existence of the BSEE program in this university." Engr. Rosco shares, encouraging the students to strive more in reaching their fullest potential.

Overall, the event ended in success. Not only does it highlight their plans and goals as a department, but it was a celebration of friendship, camaraderie, and unity as their electrical family aims for more greater heights.
