In defiance of the dreary weather, the spirit of celebration prevailed at the School Year 2024โ2025 Graduation Ceremony at the University Amphitheater, where graduates, faculty members, and guests gathered to mark the culmination of the studentsโ college journey, held today, June 21.
A total of 143 graduates are set to receive Latin honorsโ14 Summa Cum Laude, 52 Magna Cum Laude, and 77 Cum Laudeโa testament to their academic excellence and dedication throughout the years.
The College of Engineering proudly produced one Magna Cum Laude graduate under the BS Electrical Engineering program, along with six Cum Laude graduates from BS Civil Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Electronics and Communications Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering and BS Chemical Engineering.
Academic distinctions were conferred upon graduates who earned Latin honorsโSumma Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude. In addition, institutional honors such as Valedictorian, Salutatorian, First Honorable Mention, and Second Honorable Mention were awarded to deserving students.
Special recognitions were also presented to board topnotchers, including the 6th Placer in the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Social Workers, the 8th Placer in the November 2024 Licensure Examination for Nursing, and the 9th Placer in the August 2024 Licensure Examination for MA in Guidance and Counseling. The Loyalty Award was also bestowed upon graduates who have shown long-standing dedication to the institution.
Ceremonial distribution of diplomas followed, symbolizing the culmination of the graduatesโ academic journey and the fruits of their hard work and perseverance.
โAs a Cum Laude graduate, the advice I would give to aspiring engineering students who are aiming for honors would be DON'T AIM FOR IT. Instead, aim for high scoresโ that you could do your best. This is advice I have gotten from one of my high school teachers. That there is a difference between aiming for the top spot and aiming for a perfect score of 100. Academic honors of course is the culmination of all your hard work, but it is how you get there is what matters the most. Also, as valid as it is sometimes, do not make academics as an excuse to miss out on fun and excitement as simply as going out with your friends as these could help you recharge yourself.โ stated by Mark Romeo D. Pagayon, BS Chemical Engineering, Cum Laude.
Concluding the ceremony was the graduates' Pledge of Loyalty and their final singing of the UNO-R Alma Mater Hymnโsymbolizing the end of their student life and the beginning of their journey as proud alumni.
Upholding its mission of Evangelization and commitment to being a Cradle of Excellence, UNO-R has once again produced graduates who embody competence, character, and compassion.
