USLS shifts to online synchronous modality after 5.3 earthquake

In consideration of the magnitude 5.3 earthquake felt in Bacolod City, the University of St. La Salle announced that classes on Oct. 1 will shift to online synchronous mode, with asynchronous options available for students in affected areas.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the tremor stemmed from a magnitude 6.7 earthquake, with its epicenter located 17 kilometers north of Bogo City, Cebu, tectonic in origin, and with a depth of 10 kilometers.

Transforming the tightest seven-college into a showcase of musical dominance, the Yu An Log - College of Business and Accountancy (YAL-CBA) β€˜Aeroglyphs’ seized the championship title at the Coliseum, Sept. 29.

The other colleges trailing behind are as follows:

Third runner-up - College of Computing Studies - Upper Moon Eight

Seizing a thrilling : Unit Bracket, the College of Education (CEd) clinched the title with a narrow 2-1 victory over the College of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH), at the College Covered Court.

The CEd secured the opening set with a decisive 25-19 win, however, the CTH recovered and outplayed them to take the second set, 25-21.

Meanwhile, a neck-and-neck showdown was witnessed by the third set, with service aces from both teams, before a crucial service error from CTH that sealed the 25-23 victory for CEd.

Attacks rained in the College Covered Court as the : Teachers Bracket hailed Team Black as champions against Team Green in the best-of-three finals game, 2–1.

Team Black led the first set with commanding service aces and widened the gap up to 16 points, 25–9, while Team Green secured the second set with 12–25.

A tight match occurred in the last set with multiple equal points, but ultimately concluded with Team Black nabbing the victory, 15–13.

Daring dives and powerful smashes raged within the College Covered Court during the , as the College of Education (CED) and College of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) won their semifinalist spot for the unit bracket, and Team Black and Team Green secured their spot for the teachers bracket last Thursday.

CED outlasted Basic Education Unit (BEU) in intense rallies, taking the win, 2-1, with scores of 25-16, 17-25, and 15-8, followed by a game from CTH and College of Engineering, also in a three-set duel, 25-23, 24-26, 16-14, to claim a 2-1 victory.

While for the teachers bracket, Team Black prevailed over Team White with the scores of 25-12, 17-25, 15-12, securing a 2-1 victory, afterwards, Team Green held off Team Blue with 25-18, 22-25, 15-13, still capturing a 2-1 win; sealing all the matches.

In a hard-fought showdown, the College of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) emerged as champions after edging past the College of Computing Studies (CCS), 64-60, in the at the College Covered Court, Sept. 29.

CCS dominated the first seven minutes of the first quarter, until the CTH found their rhythm and cut down the deficit, turning the tide in their favor as the quarter progressed: 19-18, 36-24, and, 48-43.
