Campus journalists from the University of St. La Salle - Basic Education Unit (USLS-BEU) competed in the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026โ€“2027 held at Andres Bonifacio Elementary School (ABES) I on September 9, 2026 with the theme "Mapanuri, Mapanindigan, at Mapanagutang Pamamayahag."

The DSPC brought together campus journalists from schools across the division of Bacolod City as they competed in various individual and group categories, putting their skills in writing, broadcasting, publishing, and other fields of campus journalism to the test.

Student journalists from The Lasallian Crossroads and Kapawa took on various individual and group categories to represent the school.

Before reaching the contest proper, The Lasallian Crossroads Collaborative Desktop Publishing & Online Publishing teams underwent an elimination round, placing them among the top contenders who advanced to compete in the division-level competition.

The results were announced during the DSPC awarding ceremony at Andres Bonifacio Elementary School (ABES) II on September 11, 2026, where the University of St. La Salle was declared ๐Ž๐•๐„๐‘๐€๐‹๐‹ ๐‚๐‡๐€๐Œ๐๐ˆ๐Ž๐๐’.

On August 28, 2026, BEU Junior High School students participated in Palarong Pinoy at the Upper Grades Covered Court (UGCC) as part of the Buwan ng Wika culmination.

Organized by the ISSG and hosted by Sir Ariel Gabiรฑo, the event featured traditional Filipino folk games.

Grade 7 House of Ruhland won Palanguyin ang Isda, while Grade 9 House of Wester took first place in both Kandungin si Inday and Mamalengke si Neneng o si Toto. Grade 10 House of Murray claimed victory in Hatakan ng Pisi (Tug-of-War).

The event concluded with the singing of the Alma Mater Hymn.

The University of St. La Salle (USLS) Basic Education Unit (BEU) celebrated Buwan ng Wika through the Misa ng Bayan and Rampa ng Kasuotan held on August 28, 2026, at the USLS Coliseum, with the theme โ€œWikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon.โ€

The celebration began with a Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Ma. Norbert Caรฑada, with the Integrated School and Liceo de La Salle in attendance.

After the Mass, the Rampa ng Kasuotan showcased the rich cultures of the Philippines through diverse traditional attires representing Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon, featuring students from Grades 1โ€“10.

The program ended with the singing of the Alma Mater Hymn. The celebration then continued with a Salo-Salo, allowing each class to gather and celebrate the occasion.

Through the culmination, the USLS community came together to honor Filipino culture, traditions, and identity.

On August 24 on campus, different cultures across Southeast Asia were showcased, highlighted, and embraced at the culmination of the ASEAN Month Celebration.

The ASEAN Flag Ceremony was held at 8:00 AM, at the university coliseum, wherein Southeast Asian countries were represented with pride, showcasing the unity and diversity that define the foundation and community shaped by ASEAN.

Following the ceremony, the event featured an exhibit of rich tradition and heritage. The ASEAN Exhibit opened at Museo de La Salle, where costumes, cultures, and stories showcased each nation's deep history and unique identity.

Overall, the culmination showcased unity, diversity, cultural identity, and a timeless legacy of traditions that will continue to inspire future generations.

Today, we commemorate a great leader whose efforts awakened our country's view on corruption. Former Senator Benigno '"Ninoy" Aquino was assassinated on August 21, 1983, and fueled outrage among the public that eventually led to the EDSA revolution against the Marcos Dictatorship. Let this special holiday remind us to always appreciate our history which turned this country into what it is now.
