NEWS — Today, July 17, students from Grades 4-12 participated in the Climate Emergency Talk held by guest speaker, Fr. Christian Buenafe, O.Carm., Ph.D. During the program, Fr. Christian discussed the problems of the economy and climate today. He taught the importance of taking initiative in doing the necessary actions to save our planet.

Fr. Christian highlighted the importance of environmental awareness, responsibility, and mindfulness. He encouraged the Scholasticans to take part in this initiative and help spark change—to enlighten the people around us. Through inspiring videos of students advocating for environmental justice and climate action, he reminded them of the youth’s power to become catalysts for a positive future.

The talk concluded with an open forum, where students were able to share their insights, opinions, and questions regarding the topic. This became an avenue for meaningful discussions that encouraged everyone to reflect on their role in combatting environmental issues.

NEWS — Committed to fostering a culture of safety and preparedness, students, faculty, and the PTA of St. Scholastica’s Academy of Bacolod City Inc. participated in the Mass Active Shooting/Kill (MASK) Awareness and Preparedness Seminar today, July 16, 2026.

The guest speaker, Mr. Augustus Caesar Esmeralda, discussed safety awareness, emergency preparedness, and personal protection under the theme of “See the Signs, Secure the Space,” covering safety and security, proper evacuation protocols, and protective measures to implement in high-risk situations.

The seminar concluded with an open forum, allowing students to actively participate in the discussion and engage with the speaker, deepening their understanding of critical protocols in the event of an emergency.

On this day, July 11, we celebrate the Feast of St. Benedict, the twin brother of St. Scholastica. Known for his steadfast faith and devotion, St. Benedict continues to guide the Benedictine community towards a life of balance, rooted in Ora et Labora.

Let us remember to listen with the ear of our hearts, and remain as unwavering in faith as he was. 🕊️

NEWS – Holy Family High School - Bacolod, Inc. celebrated its 60th anniversary on this day, June 17, at the HFHS-B gymnasium, with the theme of Inflamed by Familian and Benedictine Spirit: A Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving. Along with the commemoration of this occasion was a vocational talk given by the alumni of HFHS-B who have pursued consecrated life. Grade 12 students from SSA-B participated in this joyous event, giving them the time to ask and reflect on the ways of the religious.

The program started with the opening remarks from HFHS-B staff, followed by the Diamond Jubilee prayer. The sisters in attendance proceeded to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was then succeeded by the gallery walk. A heartfelt Jubilee video showcasing the rich background of HFHS-B was then presented, reminiscing about the history of the institution.

“If there is no doubt, we cannot validate what we have chosen,” said one of the sisters. Nuns from various congregations anchored the insightful vocation activity as they highlighted experiences from their journeys while pursuing religious life.

To close the event on a good note, an interactive dance number was performed by HFHS-B students, and there was a photo opportunity with the people present in the venue.
