Lo Family Boosts Firefighting Capabilities for Bacolod Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade

Geared toward enhancing Chamber’s rescue response capacities, in a generous act of community support, the Lo family donated a 110-foot hydraulic high rise ladder fire truck to the Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc.

𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘀 𝗢𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹

Floodwaters rose to alarming levels due to Tropical Cyclone Crising and the southwest monsoon, affecting more than a thousand families across Negros Occidental, July 18.

The constant rainfall has resulted in
deep flooding in residential and commercial areas in cities like Himamaylan and Kabankalan.

Landslides and overflowing dams have also been reported in Ilog and Sipalay, respectively.

Residents are strongly advised to remain indoors, stay vigilant for updates from official sources, cooperate with local authorities, and prepare for possible evacuation.

Israel launched airstrikes on central Damascus, Syria, killing five Syrian security personnel and injuring at least a dozen others, according to Syrian reports on Wednesday, July 16.

The strikes reportedly targeted the Syrian Defence Ministry in the capital, marking an escalation in Israel’s military operations that began on Monday, July 14.

Since the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in December, Israeli forces have taken control of the UN-monitored demilitarized zone in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and carried out multiple strikes on military targets in Syria.

Israeli officials said the latest strikes aimed to protect the Druze minority following intense clashes in southern Syria.

Following the airstrikes, Syrian officials announced a new ceasefire in Sweida, a southern city where recent violence flared between Druze militias and Bedouin tribes.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the parties involved in the fighting had agreed on “specific steps” to end the clashes.

July 12, 2025 marks the ninth anniversary of the Philippines’ historic arbitral victory at The Hague—an international ruling that invalidated China’s sweeping nine-dash line claim over the West Philippine Sea. The 2016 decision reinforced the country’s sovereign rights under international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

This milestone continues to stand as a symbol of the Philippines’ firm assertion of its sovereignity, maritime entitlements, and regional peace. Amid ongoing tensions, the ruling remains a global reminder that might does not make right, and that the rule of law must prevail over coercion.
