Banjo Hinolan, a filmmaker with a diverse background in theater and film production, has made meaningful contributions to both the local and national film scenes. La Salle, Bacolod, Banjo's academic foundation set the stage for his dynamic career in theater and film production. His journey began with hands-on roles as a director, videographer, and video editor for various cable television stations
in Bacolod. This experience not only honed his technical skills but also deepened his understanding of visual storytelling. Banjo's career is further enriched by his brief yet impactful stints at Cinematheque Centre Negros under the Film Development Council of the Philippines and RSVP Film Studios, Phils., a renowned production facilities and equipment rental company in Manila. His talents and passion for cinema have taken him to national and international film productions, serving as both an actor and a member of the production crew. Mentorship has played a pivotal role in Banjo's career. He was fortunate to be guided by the late legendary film director Peque Gallaga and Tanya Lopez. These mentors helped shape Banjo's directorial vision, which is vividly showcased in his work on Manokan Country (2024), a film that reflects his deep connection to Bacolod and his unwavering commitment to Filipino cinema. Banjo Hinolan's journey from a passionate Mass Communication student to a celebrated filmmaker and educator is a story of dedication, talent, and an unwavering commitment to the art of cinema.
