ALLEGED COLLAPSED MOUNTAIN SLOPE IN CAMP VALDEZ, BRGY. MAMBAROTO

A collapsed mountain slope in Camp Valdez, Brgy. Mambaroto was reported by a citizen on October 16, 2025. The City DRRM Office investigated, finding cracks and signs of landslides. The Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment team called an emergency meeting with City Mayor Maria Gina M. Lizares. The City Engineering Office and Surveying Office found 80-meter-long cracks. The city has sought assistance from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau for a comprehensive assessment. Residents are advised to remain alert for potential landslides.

The area has been equipped with signage for motorists and travelers to stay informed about the road conditions.

LOOK: On October 15, the Coast Guard Station Eastern Sulu rescued 11 crew and 5 passengers of the M/L NIESAH after the boat suffered engine failure and was swept away by the current off Capual Island, Omar, Sulu. The crew was safely transported to Allayon Port, Luuk, Sulu.
