Tribu Euzkara bags most titles and wins Pintaflores 2023

Tribu Euzkara, the 2nd Contingent, represented by Julio Ledesma National High School, is the overall champion of Pintaflores Festival 2023 Highlights, followed by Tribu Sumilaw, the 4th Contingent, and Tribu Busilak, the 3rd Contingent, who won 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively, during the announcement of winner at the San Carlos City Auditorium on November 5, 2023.

Minor awardees include Best in Catsuit, Headdress, Human Flower Formation, and Streetdancing for Tribu Sumilaw, Best in Musicality, Costume of the Dancers and the Festival Queen, Choreography, Solo Performance, and Ritual for Tribu Euzkara, and Floral Face Tattoo for Tribu Bidlisiw.

Tribu Euzkara's Festival Queen Noella Eraula also won the title of Pintaflores Festival Queen 2023, followed by Tribu Busilak's Nathalia Caduhada, and Tribu Bidlisiw's Artchelyn Caramihan, who won 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively for the said title.

₱30,000 consolation prize winners include Contingents numbered 1 and 5, which are Tribu Lumad Sipawaynon and Tribu Bidlisiw.

Rio Calonia, the 4th candidate, was crowned as Miss San Carlos City 2023, followed by Jeramie Maasin, the 6th candidate, Reignne Yray, the 5th candidate, Brittany Gabutina, the 9th candidate, and Christine Navia, the 3rd candidate, who won the title of Miss Pintaflores 2023, Miss Tourism 2023, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up, respectively, during the Miss San Carlos 2023 Pageant and Coronation on November 3, 2023 held at the San Carlos City Auditorium.

Yvonne Catamco, a 22-year-old Tourism Management student from the University of Saint La Salle, and the 15th candidate, was crowned as Miss Bacolod MassKara 2023, followed by Tracy Mae Sunio, the 3rd candidate, and 10th candidate Eli Rose Elola, who placed 1st and 2nd respectively, during the Coronation Night of the Miss Bacolod MassKara 2023 on October 16, 2023 at the University of Saint La Salle Coliseum.

Bacolod's 2023 MassKara kicks off with hundreds of smiles

The deemed 'SuperCity' had commenced the opening of the 2023 edition of MassKara Festival, titled 'SuperCity Bacolod's MassKara Festival 2023', at the Bacolod Government Center during the 'MassKara Festival Grand Countdown Salubong' on October 6 and 7 at midnight. The festival is expected to gather hundreds of thousands of locals and tourists from all around the Philippines and the world, as stated by the Bacolod Mayor Alfredo 'Albee' Benitez in his speech during the Miss Bacolod MassKara Sashing Ceremony and Press Presentation on October 1.

The festival is said to have many events, significantly, the Miss Bacolod MassKara 2023, MassKara Electrika Diva, Electric Float Parade & Competition, and the Streetdance & Arena Competition has its dates set on October 11, 13, 21, and 22, respectively, all happening on different venues stated on the 2023 MassKara Calendar of Activities which would be seen on the official website of the MassKara Festival.

Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, Inc. is the official organizer of the MassKara 2023 tasked to ensure the activities are all orderly, minimizing all types of nuisances that could occur in such a grand fiesta being attended by thousands. They also organized the 2022 edition.

MassKara is a yearly festival with highlights held every fourth Sunday of October in Bacolod City. Its name is a portmanteau of the words 'mass', which means a multitude of people, and 'cara', meaning face, coined by the late artist Ely Santiago.

HEADLINE: Filipino veteran broadcast personality Mike Enriquez dies at 71

Mike Enriquez, a veteran journalist and a broadcaster who had been serving the aforementioned industries for 54 years, passed away at the age of 71. His death was announced during the broadcast of '24 Oras' this Tuesday evening, August 29, 2023. His cause of death was not mentioned during the statement of the newscast.

He was one of the anchors of GMA’s flagship newscast '24 Oras' and hosted the long-running GMA Public Affairs program 'Imbestigador'.

"He served as President of RGMA Network, Inc. and GMA Network’s Senior Vice President and Consultant for Radio Operations. He also anchored DZBB’s 'Super Balita sa Umaga' and 'Saksi sa Dobol B'", the statement from GMA Network, the broadcast company that operates the news & public affairs branch.

Additionally, “It is with profound sadness that GMA Network announces the passing of our beloved Kapuso, Mr. Miguel ‘Mike’ C. Enriquez, who peacefully joined our Creator on August 29, 2023, He joined the broadcast industry in 1969 and then became part of GMA Network in 1995, wholeheartedly serving the Filipino audience for 54 years.”

“The Board of Directors, management, and employees of GMA Network, Inc. deeply mourn the passing of Mr. Enriquez. His dedication to the industry will serve as an inspiration to all. We pray for the eternal repose of our beloved Kapuso.” the closing statement said.

He had won many awards from his service as a journalist spanning for 54 years, in both television and radio.

Recently, he was awarded in the nomination of 'The Most Trusted Radio Presenter' by the Annual Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Award this year.

On August 18, 2018, Enriquez took a leave from the broadcasting and journalism industry for medical purposes and revealed that he had ailments, namely kidney disease and diabetes. He underwent heart bypass surgery and returned on November 26 in the same year.

In December 2021, Enriquez took another medical leave from the latter industries for his kidney transplant procedure. He then returned on March 28, 2022, in time to be able to participate in the coverage of the 2022 Philippine Elections.

“Ang daming nangyayari eh. (A lot of things had happened)
And people like us in media, this is what we live for,” he uttered in a press conference last year.

“This is one of my prayers to the Lord. I kept telling him, Lord, please let me be well enough in time for the election coverage. And He answered my prayer. Pinagdasal ko ‘yan (I prayed for it),” he added.

He also stated that he had been reflecting on what plans he had in his life.

“Is it time to turn off the microphone? Is it time to not turn off the microphone completely, but to lessen? I am still in the process of making that discernment.” his response to the question of his thoughts about his retirement.
