🎬 MOVIE REFLECTION: UNTAMED (2025, Netflix Series)

After watching Untamed, I didn’t just see a crime thriller—I saw a reflection of the very struggles we live through as Filipinos, as public servants, as fathers, and as broken people trying to do what’s right.

The series centers on a death in Yosemite National Park—but as the story unfolds, mas lumalim ang tinatalakay: hidden truths, abuse of power, grief, and the quiet kind of healing we rarely talk about.

Untamed is a reminder that our systems—whether family or government—often hide its pain under the structure. But healing starts when we face the truth, however inconvenient it may be.

Personal Rating: 9.3/10.

OPINION:

Universities Have a Voice—Let’s Use It Also for Education Reform.

While we respect the right of our Universities to speak up on national issues like the impeachment of the VP, to show they care about what is happening in our Country and reminding the upper chamber of its Constitutional mandates. But as someone who also believes in the power of education to CHANGE LIVES, I can’t help but hope, na sana the same Institutions would also lend their strong voice to the deeper problems in our country's education system.

Issues like the K to 12 program, the always changing curriculums and memorandums (nalilito na din yung ibang schools), lack of support for teachers and school employees (tama hindi lang po sa teachers pati din po sa empleyado ng mga eskwelahan) , and the quality of learning that struggles the millions of students and families every day.

More than that, I also hope our Universities promote courses that also address national needs—like Professional Teaching or Agriculture. While many students are encouraged to take business-related courses (wala po masama dun) pero there is an urgent and growing need for passionate, well-trained educators, as well.

Teaching "may" not be the most financially rewarding path kasi hindi ka naman yayaman sa pagtuturo pero it’s one of the MOST IMPACTFUL, while earning a salary na nakakabuhay na ng isang pamilya. The shortage of teachers, especially in rural and underserved areas, continues to hurt our education system. We need more young people who see teaching not just as a job, but as a mission.

It’s not about saying Universities are wrong— naisip ko lang na "ahh pwede palang gawin ng mga Universities ito" and it’s just a reminder that their voice is powerful, and maybe it can also be used to fight for reforms and guide young minds toward careers that serve the public good.
