𝟭𝟮𝟳𝗧𝗛 𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦
IMUS, CAVITE – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) together with the 3rd District of Cavite, Provincial Government of Cavite and City Government of Imus will spearhead the flag-raising and wreath-laying rites for the commemoration of the 127th anniversary of the Battle of Alapan at the Dambana ng Pambansang Watawat/ Heritage Park, Miguel Santo, Alapan II-B, Imus, Cavite on 28 May 2025, Wednesday at 8:00 AM.
Flag-raising will be facilitated by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) followed by the Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas. Wreaths will be offered by the National Youth Commission (NYC), followed by the 3rd District of Cavite, NHCP, the Provincial Government of Cavite and the Local Government of Imus.
A prayer will be led by the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Fatima- Binakayan with opening remarks from Representative Adrian Jay Advincula. Messages from NHCP Chair Jose and Mayor Alex Advincula shall follow. There will also be special performances by Ms. Claire Toledo and ESS-South Angklung Ensemble before the keynote address from Chairperson Joseph Francisco Ortega of the National Youth Commission.
Upon Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo’s return from Hongkong in May 1898, the Battle of Alapan was the first military engagement in the renewed revolution against Spain. The Filipinos emerged victorious, and to celebrate their first victory, Aguinaldo unfurled and hoisted the Philippine flag for the first time amidst the applause and cheers of his men. Today, from 28 May to 12 June, National Flag Days are celebrated, culminating in the celebration of Independence Day.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
