"Chef Ivory doesn’t introduce herself with flair. From quiet comfort to grand celebration, Chef Ivory cooks not to impress—but to care.

At Benilde, she wasn’t just a mentor—she was named Outstanding Faculty. Her students describe her as the kind of teacher who saw potential before they saw it in themselves. She brought real-world experience into the classroom, balancing technique with empathy, and always made time to check in—not just on grades, but on growth.

This phase of her Filipina chef catering journey includes mentoring future cooks—not just in recipes, but in resilience.

'When you learn something, teach it. Tell people not just your wins—tell them how you got the callouses, too.'"

"Human-built environments, such as the spaces we live in, can influence our health through microbiomes – communities of microbes like bacteria and viruses. With the right knowledge, we can intentionally shape these microbial communities to support better health – an idea currently explored by Filipino researchers in a recent study.

Architecture graduate Ma. Beatrice Villoria of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), also the owner of the thesis that started this research, collaborated with Vina Argayosa of the University of the Philippines-Diliman College of Science’s Natural Sciences Research Institute (UPD-CS NSRI), Angelo Rosalinas of Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Limited – Philippines Branch, Daniel Nichol Valerio of De La Salle University, Christian Lyle La Madrid of LLUID, and fellow Benildean architect Michael Xavier Ticzon of Fundamental Design Experts – who come from diverse fields of expertise – to create a conceptual framework for translating microbial research into design tools for the urban built environment."

"'Fashion is the reason why I wake up every morning.' For designer Veejay Floresca, this line isn’t a soundbite. It’s a lifeline. And after 21 years of auditioning, fighting self-doubt, and holding on to a dream, Floresca is finally stepping into the spotlight as a contestant on Season 21 of Project Runway — this time, on the global stage.

Floresca’s story began in 2006 when she earned a full scholarship at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) to study fashion design. It was an opportunity that changed the trajectory of her life. Even as a student, her work attracted clients and admiration, building a clientele purely by word of mouth. She would go on to become a household name in Philippine fashion, competing in the inaugural season of 'Project Runway Philippines' in 2008, and dressing celebrities and beauty queens alike."

"'Number one, I think he’s our best guard by far,' [Benilde Blazers Coach Charles Tiu] said. 'Complete kasi yung game ni Tony.'

Tony, of course, is the nickname of two-way guard Winston Ynot, who has been posting per game counts of 4.7 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.7 boards through Benilde's 7-1 record.

Not gaudy, per se, but Tiu claims that his end-to-end impact takes the Blazers to the next level whenever he's suited up and seeing action. As he put it, 'His confidence is different, iba ‘yung energy na binibigay niya.'"

"The department’s remarks demonstrate the government will promote the Philippines’ interest above its relations with China, Josue Raphael J. Cortez, diplomacy lecturer at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), said in a Facebook Messenger chat.

'This move was geared towards reiterating our position as a peace-loving nation committed to ensuring that international norms and standards are promoted,' he said. 'At the same time, in line with international law, it is also the Philippines’ prerogative to ascertain that Filipinos — bounded to the country through its sovereign status — are not being subjected to policies and initiatives by other international personalities (states) which go against the norms we uphold as a democratic society.'"

Running alongside this is Best of Benilde, a special category open exclusively to Benilde students. Five standout proposals will each receive a P50,000 grant.

Submissions are open until July 30, 2025. For more information on the Benilde Design and Art Open 2025, visit the official website: open.benilde.edu.ph.
