Verse for the Week: May 12-16
Topic: Worshipping God Through Our Success
Verse: โFor the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.โ
Psalm 84:11
In life, we go through times when things donโt go the way we hoped. This past week has been full of emotions for many Filipinos after the midterm elections. Some are happy, others are hurt, and many are clouded with doubts. But God reminds us today through this verse that He is our sun and shield.
The sun gives life, warmth, and light. Just like the sun, God gives us hope, strength, and direction, especially when things feel uncertain. The shield is for protection. God promises to protect us from things that may harm us.
Even if we are disappointed, we should not let it stop us from being kind and loving. We are called to continue walking in the way that pleases God. He does not withhold good things from those who walk uprightly, not because our uprightness earns His gifts, but because uprightness places us in alignment with His goodness.
To walk uprightly today means to refuse hatred, to silence bitterness, to sow peace when division tempts us, and to act justly even in a world that profits from shortcuts. It means believing that even when justice feels delayed, it is not deniedโbecause God sees, God knows, and God shields.
In this light, our conduct after the vote is just as important as the vote itself. We are not only citizens of a nation but ambassadors of the Kingdom. Let us not let frustration with the temporal darken our trust in the eternal. God's grace still flows. His glory is still at work. And He is still our sun.
This week, let us ponder and ask ourselves: Am I still choosing to do what is right, even when things feel unfair? How can I be a source of light and peace to others right now?
