Graduating students of Bago City College filled the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center with purpose and dreams as they celebrated their much-awaited 45th Graduation Rites with the theme, “Resilient and Competent Graduates: Challenging Journey, Elevating Lives", last Friday, June 6, 2025.
A total of 1,050 graduates from the following programs proudly marched to reap the fruits of their hard work, dedication to projects, exam preparations, and countless sleepless nights: BS Criminology, BA English, BA History, BS Office Administration, BS Information Systems, Bachelor of Elementary Education, and Bachelor of Secondary Education majors in Mathematics, Social Studies, Filipino, and Bachelor of Physical Education. These proud moments were symbolized by the distinctive hood colors representing each academic department.
Gerard H. Pacete, an esteemed BCC alumnus, was the commencement speaker for this remarkable occasion. In his inspiring speech, he shared the challenges he faced on his path to success, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and purpose. He said, “Your success today is not just your personal success, but it’s a shared story, built for us by those who paved the way.”
To recognize academic excellence, three (3) Magna Cum Laude and fifty-two (52) Cum Laude graduates were honored on stage with medals and certificates. Non-academic awardees were also acknowledged during the ceremony.
This year’s highest G.W.A. awardee, Mr. Patrick B. Pakingking, a Magna Cum Laude and graduate of Bachelor of Arts in English Language, delivered the honor’s address on behalf of his fellow graduates. He shared how faith, contentment, perseverance, and love guided him through life’s hardships. He emphasized, “This graduation is not just about medals… it's also about every silent battle, every tear we shed, and every step we took... we are more than our awards.” His message was a reminder that true success includes the quiet victories and emotional struggles often hidden behind smiles.
In a heartfelt and emotional speech, College President Dr. Deborah Natalia E. Singson congratulated the graduates with teary eyes as she looked back on her own struggles and experiences while serving the institution. This occasion also marked her final graduation ceremony after four decades of service to the academe.
Also present during the event were Hon. Mayor Nicholas Yulo, Hon. Mayor-elect Marina “Mayette” Javellana-Yao, Hon. Ma. Femmy Martir, Hon. Imee Precion, Alumni President Mr. Jerry Nacion, as well as the dedicated faculty and staff of BCC.
As the graduates of Bago City College embark on the next chapter of their lives, we take pride in their resilience and commitment. May they continue to serve their communities with excellence, integrity, and the values instilled in them by their beloved alma mater.
