The readiness of Crystal Cave Integrated School (CCIS) in Baguio City was tested after a 4.8-magnitude earthquake was felt around 10:30 a.m. on October 9. Teachers and students immediately demonstrated their knowledge of proper earthquake response protocols, which they had repeatedly practiced in previous drills.

The “duck, cover, and hold” procedure was swiftly carried out, and everyone safely evacuated to the designated area after the tremor.

According to the school administration, this incident proves the effectiveness of the earthquake drills in keeping the CCIS community safe.

As a precaution, classes were suspended at around 11:00 a.m. to allow for building inspection and ensure everyone’s safety before resuming school activities.

Despite the incident, everyone remained safe, and no injuries were reported.
