Would I let someone else wear my PMA Cadet Uniform to their School Career Guidance Activity?
In short - Yes, I would.
As an Alumnus of the Academy, I recognize that there are laws, rules, and regulations in connection to our uniform - but in the first place, what is the purpose of these laws? We must always go back to the heart of why these things are in place.
If someone would wear my uniform because this aspirant wants to be a future Cadet like I was,
Social Media is a scary place, we sensationalize things and put malice into things that otherwise would have not been noticed in the first place. I am sure, that in the future, as I become a proud father, I would let my child wear my uniform for a picture if he would want to be like me in the future.
Yes, the uniform is something we work hard for - I know that, especially the Chevron of the Brigade Commander and those 1st Class Lines - but it wonโt make me any less if I would let someone else wear it. Especially if that would inspire him to be like me one day. We never know, he could actually be the next Brigade/Regiment Commander.
Letโs be kind. There was no malice in the wearing of the uniform. In fact, I am proud that another youngblood wants to follow the path less travelled.
