Beyond ceasefires and aid, Palestinians have the undeniable right to exist and resist. It has been over a year since the Al Aqsa flood redirected global attention to the ongoing Zionist occupation and its genocidal actions. However, this struggle did not begin on October 7, nor did Israel's atrocities. Today, we must actively isolate Israel, including academic and cultural institutions that demonstrate deep and persistent complicity in these atrocities. Moreover, we are obligated to uplift Palestinian culture, which is continuously subjected to systemic erasure and annihilation.

We also confront a grave injustice: while protesters against corruption are arrested, no one is held accountable for the corruption itself. This includes the current Philippine government's purchase of Israeli weapons—driven by U.S. imperialism—used against its own citizens.

As we boycott, we must also cultivate alternative, liberatory cultures that not only symbolically express solidarity with Palestine but do so materially, through genuine support for Palestinian resistance.

Big developers like UNIWIDE and SM have tried to take over, but vendors and locals always pushed back.

No real consultation. Risk to heritage and the environment.

And besides, Baguio is one of the richest cities outside Manila. Why rely on malls to fund it?

The market is part of who we are. Let’s keep it that way.

Skateboarding day! 🛹

𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗢 𝗦𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗕𝗢𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗭𝗘𝗗

A proposed ordinance introduced by Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President John Rhey Mananeng seeks to institutionalize Go Skateboarding Day in Baguio City to promote skateboarding as a recognized sport.

Under the proposed measure, Go Skateboarding Day will be officially celebrated every June 21 or on the closest Saturday of the month, with activities to be held primarily at the Bayan Park Skate Park in Aurora Hill or at other venues as determined by the organizing committee. The event will feature skateboarding competitions, clinics, games, and other related activities that promote the sport and encourage public participation.

Under the ordinance, a Go Skateboarding Day Executive Committee will be created. This body will be chaired by the City Administrator, with the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation or the Committee on Youth and Sports Development serving as co-chairperson. Members will include the City Sports and Recreation Division Officer, the City Environment and Parks Management Officer, and three representatives from the 2600 Skateboarding Community.

The proposed measure also encourages the participation of skateboarders, sports enthusiasts, and residents in organizing and supporting the celebration.

Furthermore, the Executive Committee will be tasked to draft the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the ordinance, subject to the approval of the Baguio City Council.

The proposed ordinance has been approved on first reading by the city council and referred to the Committee on Tourism, Special Events, Parks, and Playgrounds for review. -Jordan G. Habbiling
