"Ayag si Leng-ag" reminds us that even in moments of loss, love and culture can help bring our loved ones home.

In Bontoc culture and many parts of the Cordillera, death does not sever the bond between the living and the departed. The spirit (leng-ag) may linger, confused or unable to cross over. Through the Ayag, the family reaches out with love, calling the spirit to find peace and return. The ritual is both a plea and a farewell, a plea to find the loved one and a farewell to let them rest once found.

May the souls of the perished rest in peace.
