𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) has taken action to uphold the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities who were among those arrested during the September 21, 2025 anti-corruption protest in Manila.
In its statement, NCDA underscored that the rights of persons with disabilities must be respected at all times, including in situations of public unrest. The agency is coordinating with the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), and the Persons with Disability Affairs Offices (PDAOs) of Manila and Marikina to ensure that those detained receive fair treatment and due process.
NCDA has also deployed a social worker to facilitate comprehensive case management, which covers access to medical care, legal assistance, psychosocial support, and family coordination. The Council reiterated its call for accountability and systemic reforms to prevent future violations, stressing that the dignity and safety of persons with disabilities must never be compromised.
