BALANGA CITY, Bataan - Naghatid ng tulong pinansyal ang Kpop boy group na Enhypen sa bansa na tinataya sa P4 milyon bilang flood-relief efforts assistance matapos ang pananalasa ng mga nagdaang bagyong Tino at Uwan, ngayong ika-20 ng Nobyembre.

Ayon sa Korea Times, malaking porsyento ng relief-assistance ang itutuon sa disaster response sa lalawigan ng Bulacan alinsunod sa habilin ng grupo lalo’t espesyal na lugar umano ang naturang lalawigan sa mga miyembro nito.

“We became aware of the recent severe flooding affecting many communities across the Philippines, a country that has long been close to our hearts… We wanted to offer our support, even in a small way, and sincerely hope the contributions will be used to help those in need and assist in the ongoing recovery efforts. Our hearts are with the local community and fans during this challenging time,” pagbabahagi ng Enhypen.

Matatandaang ilang linggo pa lamang ang nakalilipas nang rumagasa ang mga bagyong Tino at Uwan sa bansa, dahilan ng pagkasawi ng mahigit 140 katao ayon sa tala, habang nasa 129 katao naman ang naiulat na nawala.

Kaugnay nito, agarang nagdeklara ang Malacañang ng isang taong estado ng kalamidad sa bansa o national state of calamity bunsod ng pinsalang iniwan ng mga sakuna.

Dulot nito, nagpahatid ang grupong Enhypen katuwang ang kanilang ahensya na ‘Belift Lab’ ng financial aid sa Pinas upang magsilbing tulong sa mga flood-relief efforts na patuloy na idinaraos sa bansa.

Sa pamamagitan ng kolaborasyon ng Korea Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association, at ng Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, inaasahan ang patuloy na ugnayan at pakikipagtulungan ng bansa tungo sa paglutas ng mga isyu at sakuna.

Umarangkada ang makabagong Hydroponics Training sa Balanga City National Science High School (BCNSHS) na dinaluhan ng mga opisyal ng Youth for Environment in Schools' Organization (YES-O) Club, ngayong ika-18 ng Nobyembre, taong kasalukuyan.

Pinamunuan ito ng mga punong-g**o ng YES-O Club at Scientia Veritas na sina Gng. Jhunaiza Santos-Argana, at G. Jerald Dela Cruz kaagapay ang agriculturist na si G. Jimmy Rowell Sombilla.

Naglalayon ang pagsasanay na ipakilala sa mga kabataan ang hydroponics agriculture, isang sistemang gumagamit ng nutrient-rich water solution upang mapatubo ang halaman sa ilalim ng kontroladong kondisyon.

"Maganda na maipamulat natin sa mga estudyante o kabataan kung ano ang kahalagahan ng pagpo-produce ng pagkain at kung paano sila makakapag-contribute sa community," saad ni Sombilla.

Pinatatatag ng programa ang kahalagahan ng makabagong sistemang ito bilang solusyon para sa mga urbanong lugar na may limitadong lupang mapagtataniman at para sa patuloy na pagpapanatili ng produksyon ng pagkain.

"Para sa akin, ang hydroponics ay isang mabisang paraan para matugunan ang mga issue natin sa food security, lalong lalo na ngayon na lumiliit ang lugar pang-sakahan dahil na rin sa pagdami ng populasyon," dagdag pa niya.

Pinatingkad ng talakayan ang potensyal ng hydroponics bilang masusukat at makakalikasang pamamaraan na maaaring mapabuti sa pamamagitan ng pag-unlad sa automation, artificial intelligence, at integrasyon ng renewable energy upang maging mas episyente sa hinaharap.

Kasunod nito, lumahok ang mga opisyal sa hands-on na pagsasanay upang maisabuhay ang tamang pagbuo at pagpapatakbo ng sistemang hydroponics.

"My experience with hydroponics training was enlightening! I learned about the benefits of soilless cultivation, nutrient management, and space-efficient growing. I'll implement a small-scale hydroponic system in our school's garden, adapting it to our local climate and resources, and integrate it into our science and agriculture curriculum to teach students about sustainable food production and innovative farming practices," ani Dela Cruz, ukol sa mga natutuhan mula sa naturang pagsasanay.

Samantala, inaasahang mapalawak pa ang kaalaman ng mga mag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng mga susunod na farm viewing activities at sa patuloy na pagpapabuti ng gulayan ng BCNSHS.

Dinaluhan ang naturang workshop ng piling mga g**o sa Agham at Matematika ng Department of Education (DepEd) - Region III.

Naglalayon ang aktibidad na mapagtibay ang kakayahan ng mga g**ong suriin ang pagganap ng mga mag-aaral gamit ang Khan's Academy Dashboards, kabilang ang paggamit ng iba’t ibang tools upang makita ang learning patterns at masubaybayan ang progreso ng mga mag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng beripikadong datos.

Pinagyaman naman ng mga delegado sa ikalawang bahagi ng sesyon ang kanilang kaalaman sa Khanmigo, ang AI-powered teaching assistant ng plataporma na nagpapadali sa lesson planning, pagbuo ng mga pagtataya, at pamamahala sa silid-aralan.

Kasunod nito, lumahok ang mga delegado sa isang hands-on na pagsasanay sa paggamit ng nasabing AI tool.

Ipinabatid ng mga tagapag-organisa na idinisenyo ang gawaing ito upang mapag-igting ang kumpiyansa ng mga g**o sa paggamit ng teknolohiya sa aktwal na sitwasyon sa silid-aralan.

Pagdaragdag naman ng mga opisyal ng paaralan na makakatulong sa pagpapabuti ng mga susunod na instructional improvements ng BCNSHS ang mga natutuhang kaalaman sa dinaluhan nitong Khan workshop.

Naaalala ko pa noong si Marie Curie ang naging inspirasyon ng aming pangkat sa asignaturang Research noong kami ay nasa ika-9 na baitang. Pinili namin ang pangalang “Marie Curious” dahil tulad ni Marie Curie mismo, siya’y puspos ng kuryusidad na nagtulak sa kaniya upang maging isa sa mga pinakatanyag na pigura sa larangan ng agham. Siya ang naging sagisag ng katalinuhan, tapang, at dedikasyon, na nagbibigay inspirasyon sa mga kababaihang siyentista hanggang sa kasalukuyan.

Si Maria Sklodowska, o mas kilala bilalang Marie Curie, ay pinanganak noong Nobyembre 7, 1867 sa pamilyang may mataas na pagpapahalaga sa edukasyon. Lumaki itong may matinding hilig sa larangan ng agham at matematika. Gayunpaman, sa kabila ng hirap at kakulangan sa oportunidad para sa mga kababaihan sa larangan ng edukasyon, kaya’t linisan niya ang kaniyang bansa upang ipagpatuloy ang pag-aaral sa Paris, France. Dito niya nakamit ang bihirang karangalan na malimit makamit ng isang kababaihan sa panahong iyon, siya ay naging dalubhasa sa larangan ng agham.

Ang naunang yugto ng makabuluhang paglalakbay ni Madame Curie ay naging kaagapay nito ang asawang si Pierre Curie, ang kalagayan nila at pagtutuklas ay di naging madali. Kinalaunan taong 1898, dulot ng pagsisikap sa pamamagitan ng pagsasagawa ng iba’t ibang eksperimentong kemikal, natuklasan nila ang dalawang bagong elemento, ang polonium at radium.

Hindi nagtapos doon ang kontribusyon ni Madame Curie. Sa buong buhay niya, ginamit niya ang kaniyang kaalaman upang mapawi ang pagdurusa ng kapwa. Sa panahon ng Unang Digmaang Pandaigdig, kasama ang kaniyang anak na si Irene, personal siyang tumulong sa paggamit ng radium para sa paggamot at pagpapaunlad ng medikal na teknolohiya, partikular sa X-ray. Patuloy rin niyang pinalaganap ang paggamit ng agham sa kabutihan ng sangkatauhan at nagsikap na magtatag ng laboratoryo ng radyaktibidad sa Warsaw, na sinuportahan ng $50,000 donasyon mula sa mga Amerikanong siyentipiko na ipinagkaloob ni Pangulong Herbert Hoover noong 1929.

Dulot ng kaniyang gawa at kahusayan, hinangaan ito ng mga dalubhasa sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo. Isa siya sa mga kasapi ng Conseil du Physique Solvay mula 1911 hanggang sa kaniyang kamatayan, at miyembro rin ng Committee of Intellectual Co-operation ng League of Nations mula 1922. Ang kaniyang mga pananaliksik ay naitala sa maraming publikasyong pang-agham, kabilang ang mga akdang Recherches sur les Substances Radioactives (1904), L’Isotopie et les Éléments Isotopes, at ang klasikong Traité de Radioactivité (1910).

Sa lawak ng kaniyang kontribusyon, tumanggap siya ng maraming parangal at pagkilala. Noong 1903, magkasama silang ginawaran ng kaniyang asawa ng Nobel Prize in Physics para sa kanilang pag-aaral sa radyaktibidad, habang noong 1911, siya naman ay ginawaran ng Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Dahil dito, siya ang natatanging siyentipikong nakatanggap ng Nobel sa dalawang magkaibang larangan. Ilang dekada man ang lumipas mula nang pumanaw si Madame Curie, nananatiling buhay ang kaniyang pamana sa bawat pahina ng agham. Mula sa mga kababaihang siyentistang sumusunod sa kaniyang yapak, hanggang sa bawat pag-usbong ng bagong mga tuklas. Ang kuwento niya ay isang banayad na paalala na ang kuryusidad at tapang ay may kapangyarihang baguhin ang mundo.

Born on November 7, 1938, Edgardo D. Gomez has become an outstanding figure in Philippine science. His birthday marks a moment to reflect on a life dedicated to unlocking the mysteries of the ocean.

Gomez's pioneering research on coral reef ecology and giant clam rehabilitation has reshaped how the Philippines approaches marine conservation. His work provided the scientific foundation for policies protecting reefs and for restocking almost extinct marine species.

As the founding director of the Marine Science Institute at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Gomez transformed the institution into a leading center for marine research and education. Under his leadership, the institute trained generations of Filipino marine scientists.

Roads do, in fact, have a mind of their own that tends to drive individuals crazy—with them always trying to reach the edge of the traffic—sometimes leading to their end.

On November 16, the world commemorates this day to remember 'road traffic victims'. Even though this particular event is often overlooked as Christmas nears its way, it wouldn't hurt to know why these types of scenarios occur, how we can avoid them, and how much they negatively contribute to society and the victims' families.

Just like the responsibilities we have in our respective homes, we also have responsibilities outside of our comfort zones—where we have to look out for other people, not just our own well-being.

A simple mistake—a wrong turn or a tangible step on a different brake—can easily endanger your surroundings.

While remembrance is more focused on, it is a call to action for the world to prioritize road safety, rather than leave it all for the citizens to handle.

Besides the grief, stories of these victims arise—we come to know that just like us, they are individuals who strive for a better future; who contribute meaningfully to nations.

As tires leave etches on roads for years to come, they can be covered with dust; like the hearts of the families, scars might heal, but memories of their loved ones will never truly be erased.

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is made especially for millions who have passed or been injured on roads worldwide-beneath safety campaigns, it is about honoring lives cut short, memories lost, and understanding what those individuals could have been or could have reached if this phenomenon hadn't occurred.

Beneath lives' collision courses, we learn to move on. But may this serve as a reminder that road safety requires shared responsibility, not just from the efforts of one individual. We might try our best, but it will never work as long as one tries to work uncoordinated.

A simple mistake is enough for everything to backfire, but following simple road safety measures can ensure safety for more travels to come.
