Consul Eduardo "Don Eddie" L. De Guzman, who passed away on July 21, was honored with memorial services from July 23 to 25 at The Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City, Metro Manila.

To mourn the loss of Don Eddie, the late president of Tomas del Rosario College, several administrative office workers and academic heads traveled from Bataan to Taguig City amidst extreme weather conditions to attend to the memorial service earlier.

A funeral mass will then be held tomorrow, July 26, at 11 a.m. at The Heritage, followed by the interment at Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina later that day.

The provincial government of Bataan officially declared the province in the state of calamity on July 23, after days of torrential rains brought by the southwest monsoon (Habagat), intensified by Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong.

Following a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, authorities cited the urgent need for emergency response due to widespread flooding, landslides, property damage, and displaced residents.

According to DOST-PAGASA Abucay Station, a total of 832.9 millimeters of rainfall from July 17 to 23 poured all over Bataan, prompting the issuance of multiple weather warnings and widespread flooding.

Furthermore, several towns in Bataan also experienced significant damage to homes, roads, and public infrastructure due to continuous heavy rainfall and flooding, while classes at all levels and non-calamity government operations were suspended for a week.

In line with the declaration, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) โ€“ Bataan has announced a price freeze on all basic necessities effective until September 21, unless lifted earlier by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Meanwhile, del Rosarians, who are mostly residents of flood-hit town of Limay reflected on how the calamity battered the province.

โ€œSeeing Bataan placed under a state of calamity made me realize how difficult the situation is, especially for the poor, as flooding endangers lives and animals,โ€ said Jan Cedric Perona, a student from 12 STEM - Capricorn.

In addition, a teacher from the SHS faculty shared that the declaration of a state of calamity was justifiable considering the ongoing effects of the storms and southwest monsoon in Bataan.

โ€œAng hiling ko lang na sana magamit sa tama ang pondo. Lahat sana ay makaramdam nito dahil lahat naman tayo ay apektado, binaha man o hindi at malapit man sa gobyerno o hindi,โ€ Julie Angel Serrano, a Biological Science teacher stated.

As the province faces the aftermath of this calamity, the provincial government urges all residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with authorities, and extend support to one another as Bataan moves toward recovery and safety.

During the Kamalig Kalinangang Kabataan (K*K) renovation, selected staffers from The Perspective and TRC: EXTRA collaborated to conduct an exclusive interview with Consul Eduardo "Don Eddie" De Guzman, the president of Tomas del Rosario College (TRC), at his office on January 16.

The interview primarily focused on gathering details, listing the specific upgrades of the K*K, and also knowing the president's reasons and motivations for the renovation, especially in personally funding it.

This is also the last interview of the president with the student publications before he passed away last July 21.

To enhance the learning experience, Rex Education (REX Ed) organized a PowerSchool Schoology orientation via Zoom, bringing together Grade 11 students, parents, and instructors to unlock the platform's potential last July 12.

Led by Mr. Luis Magtira, a Rex Learning Solutions Specialist, the orientation provided a detailed overview of Schoologyโ€”an online learning management system (LMS) that allows educators to structure curriculum, design lesson plans, and monitor student progress.

Major features were also covered, such as course management, assessments, content sharing, and communication.

"The session aimed to help us become familiar with the features and benefits of Schoology that will enhance the learning experience for students," said Martina Rodriguez, a student from 11 ABM - St. Matthew.

The orientation was successful in providing the participants with the skills and capacity to utilize Schoology's platform, closing the gap toward a more integrated and comprehensive system between students, parents, and instructors.

With Divine Providence leading the way, the High School Department of Tomas del Rosario College (TRC) offered its first Eucharistic Celebration of this school year on July 11 at the Kamalig Kalinangang Kabataan (K*K).

The event was organized by the TRCโ€“Diocesan Youth Ministry in Campus (DYMC) and was presided over by Fr. Raphael Ma. Babano, MMHC.

โ€œIt was meaningful, especially as a student. It reminded me that no matter how hard life gets, we are not alone because God is always with us,โ€ said Ayumi Mata, a DYMC member from 12 STEM โ€“ Aquarius.

The Mass served as a spiritual kickoff, inviting the school community to reflect, reconnect, and begin the year with unity and purpose under Godโ€™s guidance.
