FARMER’S SON TO HARVARD! 🌻🎓

“This amazing blessing that I have received... was nothing short of a miracle.”

Romnick Blanco, the son of a farmer from the foothills of the Sierra Madre in Bulacan, earned admission to Harvard University with a full scholarship, turning a difficult childhood journey into a story of hope for many Filipino learners.

Growing up in a rural community, Romnick was the seventh of nine sons. His father, Renato, worked as a vegetable and rice farmer, while Romnick learned early that education could become a path toward a better life for his family and community.

But getting to school was never easy.

As a young student, Romnick walked long distances on unpaved roads and crossed a river without a bridge just to attend class. Despite the heat, exhaustion, and financial challenges around him, he continued showing up and choosing his education.

In 2011, Romnick became a sponsored child of GreenEarth Heritage Foundation, where he received support for school expenses and access to English and computer literacy classes at the foundation’s Learning Center.

His dedication soon stood out. With the help of GreenEarth, he later earned a five-year scholarship to International School Manila, where he continued to excel and prepare for opportunities far beyond what once seemed possible.

After graduating from ISM, Romnick received acceptance and full-ride scholarship offers from several top universities abroad, including Harvard University, Dartmouth College, Wesleyan University, and New York University Abu Dhabi.

Among these opportunities, he chose Harvard.

His scholarship covered major costs, including tuition, accommodation, flights, and other needs, allowing him to pursue his studies without placing the full financial burden on his family.

Romnick’s story reminds every Filipino student that poverty may shape the road, but it does not have to define the destination.

From crossing rivers to entering one of the world’s most prestigious universities, his journey proves that with support, perseverance, and access to quality education, a dream that once felt impossible can become a door opened for many others.

Sa latest episode ng 'Toni Talks', ibinahagi ng 'Eat Bulaga' co-host na si Ryzza Mae Dizon ang isang 'di malilimutang plot twist sa kaniyang buhay.

Ryzza: "Meron pong kapitbahay kami na malaki ang bahay tapos may balikbayan siyang apo na dumating, nakipaglaro po ako. Tapos medyo nasagi po 'yung vase. Nasabihan po ako ng 'Mas mahal pa 'yan sa buhay mo.' Parang tumatak po 'yun sa akin na balang araw magsisipag talaga ako para 'di ako masabihan ng ganu'n..."

Toni: "Ilang taon ka lang nu'n?

Ryzza: "Bago po ako mag-Eat Bulaga, mga 6 po or 5."

Toni: "Reminder 'yan sa lahat sa atin na ang simpleng salita natin, hanggang 20 years old, dadalhin ng isang bata 'yun."

Ryzza: "Hindi ko po kinalimutan 'yun. May plot twist 'yun, Ms. Toni."

Toni: "Ano 'yung plot twist?"

Ryzza: "Nu'ng nanalo po ako (sa Eat Bulaga), nabili ko po 'yung bahay nila."
