Before we went to the market, while my mom was driving, I saw a black coin purse on the road and asked her, “Wallet ba yun?”
At first, my mom didn’t see it, so she drove a little closer. Then she told me to pick it up.
When I did, I noticed a grandma riding her bike nearby. My instinct told me that the coin purse was hers. My mom asked me to check if there was an ID inside so we could return it to the owner.
I asked my mom to drive closer to the grandma on the bike, and she did. My mom asked her, “Nay, may nahulog po ba kayong wallet?” The grandma checked her pockets and replied, “Oo, nahulog pagkadukot ko ng cellphone ko.”
My mom then asked, “Ano pong kulay?” She answered, “Itim.” That confirmed the coin purse was really hers. She looked very thankful, and since she was heading to the market, we knew it must be her purse. She thanked us many times.
I’m so glad I did something good today.
Today, I learned that even the smallest good deed can make someone’s day. The grandma’s smile and gratitude made me realize doing what’s right feels better than keeping something that isn’t mine. 🌸
Sometimes, being honest is the greatest treasure you can ever hold. 💖
