Borongan United Season 7 Draft Night Recap

Draft Night was chaos. The good kind.

As names were randomly drawn, managers held their breath—some celebrating their picks, others quietly Googling who they just drafted. A few sneaky trades went down after the dust settled, proving that strategy doesn't end when the names are called.

But let’s be honest—while the draft was the headline, the real MVP of the night was the food. For the first time in BU history, the post-draft meal was less "pulutan" and more "plated dinner." And yes, some managers were more focused on their second plate than their second-round pick.

Borongan United’s Redemption Run: A Dish Best Served with a Buzzer-Beater

Last season, the Sunrays opened their campaign with a statement win over Borongan United — a game that left the Borongan bench silent and the group chat unusually quiet for three days straight.

But this year? The story flipped.

In a much-anticipated rematch for the Sunrays' season opener, Borongan United stepped onto the court with a chip on their shoulder—and possibly fries in their bag, because this game came with hunger. Literal and emotional.

From the get-go, the game looked one-sided. Sunrays came out blazing, leaving Borongan United trailing by double digits, heads down and morale flatter than a worn-out basketball. Nothing was going in. The crowd could smell another repeat. Same team, same story.

But then came the fourth quarter.

With three minutes left and the team still down, Jarvis Bertos huddled the squad. No timeouts left, just raw motivation and the legendary words that echo through every underdog's heart:
"Makaon kita ha gawas kun magdaog kita!"

Just like that, a switch flipped, Borongan United erupted with a 12–0 run—defending like madmen, hitting shots like the B2 Bomber hitting the nuclear sites of Iran with precision that takes away American healthcare. In the final seconds, the score was tied!

Sunrays had the chance to win it again. One free throw would’ve sealed their second straight opening win... but fate had other plans. The shot missed.

Alfonso Busa, in his finest quarterback impression, launched a full-court pass. It found Marcus Braga, who turned, fired, and beat the buzzer.

Borongan United wins. Pandemonium.

From heartbreak last season to “hala, nanalo tayo?!” this year, it was a redemption arc worthy of a teleserye.

Final score: Borongan United - 64, Sunrays - 62

P.S. Borongan United would like to thank Sunrays Basketball Club for inviting us once again. Win or lose, we always enjoy a good, healthy rivalry. At the end of the day, we play the game we love — and make new friends along the way.

Not sure which team he’s on… but one thing’s clear — it’s definitely a love team.

We’d like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Golden State Warriors for their early vacation plans—truly, nothing says "dynasty" like beachfront reflection at Dolomite while the playoffs continue without you. And let’s not forget the ever-loyal Warrior fans, who have now gracefully rebranded as the Denver San Juanico Warriors, proudly cheering for Jokic like they’ve been there since Mile High day one. We admire your flexibility—it’s inspiring, really. As for us Laker fans, we’re just here… sipping our tea… watching the playoffs get quieter, one exit at a time.
