Sacramento, who faithfully served the college with unwavering dedication, integrity, and compassion. Dr. Sacramento's years of service have been marked by outstanding contributions to the holistic development of our students, faculty, and community. Her leadership legacy will remain an enduring inspiration to all Carmelian educators and learners.

As Dr. Delante steps into this significant position of trust and responsibility, we celebrate not only his academic and professional achievements but also his deep commitment to the core values of Catholic education. With a doctorate in his field, a strong background in educational leadership, and a heart formed by service, Dr. Delante embodies the very spirit of Carmelian mission—to form persons who are Christ-centered, academically competent, socially responsible, and rooted in Gospel values.

His appointment comes at a vital time, as Mount Carmel College continues to journey as part of the Church’s call to be "Pilgrims of Hope" in this Jubilee Year 2025. We are confident that under his leadership, the Basic education will flourish in its mission to mold young minds and hearts—equipped not only with knowledge but with faith, compassion, and a deep sense of purpose in the world.

As a precautionary measure in light of the reported possible case of Mpox in the province, we are temporarily reverting all in-person classes in the 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲, until further notice.

MCCB HED HOSTS FIRE PREVENTION SEMINAR AND DRILL

In an effort to enhance fire safety awareness and emergency preparedness, Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) Higher Education Department (HED) conducted a fire prevention seminar and drill, March 27.

The seminar opened with a prayer followed by welcome remarks from Mrs. Heraldine S. Villamora, College Affairs Officer (CAO).

The event featured Fire Officer Jason Baradi as the keynote speaker, who underscored the heightened fire risks during March, recognized as Fire Prevention Month. Mr. Baradi discussed the key differences between fire and earthquake drills, the classifications of fire, survival strategies, and the proper use of fire extinguishers.

To engage participants, Mr. Baradi led an interactive icebreaker before demonstrating proper extinguisher handling, evacuation procedures, and post-fire response measures. A hands-on drill allowed students to apply what they learned, reinforcing essential safety techniques.

Mrs. Ameurpina DL. Costa, Office of Student Affairs and Discipline (OSAD) officer, delivered the closing remarks. The event concluded with the awarding of certificate of appreciation to Mr. Baradi and other fire officers.

Organized in collaboration with the Peacekeeper Organization (PKO), OSAD, and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of Baler, the initiative highlighted the commitment of MCCB to equipping students with life-saving knowledge and fostering a culture of fire safety awareness.

MCCB HED MARKS JUBILEE YEAR OF HOPE WITH WAY OF THE CROSS

In a solemn observance of the Jubilee Year of Hope, the Higher Education Department (HED) of Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) commemorated the Way of the Cross on March 27 at the MCCB Extension Campus in Barangay Pingit.

With the theme “Sama-samang Pagtahak at Paglalakbay sa Daan ng Krus ni Kristo ng Sambayanang Umaasa sa Awa ng Diyos sa Taon ng Hubileo,” the event gathered HED instructors and students at 4:30 p.m. to reflect on Christ’s passion and sacrifice. Theology instructor Ms. Mylene SJ. Calugtong, with students from the Teacher Education Program (TEP) majoring in Values Education, led the commemoration.

Ms. Calugtong emphasized the significance of the Way of the Cross in strengthening faith and spiritual growth. “By reflecting on Christ’s suffering and resurrection, we deepen our connection with Him and reaffirm our hope in God’s mercy,” she said.

The observance began with an opening prayer, followed by meditations and candle lighting at each of the fourteen stations, symbolizing Christ’s journey to Calvary. The event concluded with participants uniting in prayer, reciting the Our Father and Hail Mary in a shared moment of faith and reflection.

This spiritual gathering served as a reminder of the Carmelian community’s commitment to faith, unity, and hope as they journey through the Jubilee Year.

IN PHOTOS: The Higher Education Department (HED) of Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) hosted a seminar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) of the MCCB Extension Campus on February 22. The seminar brought together both full-time and part-time faculty members of the HED for a comprehensive discussion on the latest advancements in digital education.

Facilitated by Engr. Jale M. Nonan, Principal Consultant of BEENET—an international company specializing in educational technology—the seminar explored a range of topics aimed at enhancing the learning and teaching experience. Engr. Nonan, a noted expert in the field, led the discussion on three key areas: CopyLeaks onboarding, AI in education and AI tools, and updates to the Open LMS, with a focus on Personalized Learning Design (PLD).

One of the main highlights was Engr. Nonan’s presentation on CopyLeaks, a tool designed to help educators address plagiarism and safeguard data privacy. The session also delved into the growing role of AI in education, with Engr. Nonan sharing practical tools that teachers can incorporate to create more engaging and interactive classes.

The seminar concluded with an in-depth exploration of the new features in the Open LMS, emphasizing the importance of personalized learning to meet the diverse needs of students and educators. The integration of these technological advancements was positioned as a significant step toward improving both online teaching and learning environments.

Organized to equip HED faculty with the skills and knowledge needed to integrate modern technology into their teaching practices, the seminar aligns with MCCB’s vision to provide high-quality education through innovative pedagogy. It also served as an opportunity for faculty to enhance their digital instruction capabilities in line with the college's commitment to fostering an advanced learning environment.

The seminar underscores MCCB’s dedication to staying at the forefront of educational technology, ensuring both teachers and students benefit from the most effective and intuitive tools available.

HED HOSTS POST-VALENTINE’S DAY CONCERT

The Higher Education Department (HED) of Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) ushered in an atmosphere of love and celebration with its “Hope, Peace, Love: Post-Valentine’s Day Concert.” Held on February 17, the event featured a dynamic mix of music, games, and heartfelt performances, all aimed at bringing together students and faculty in a shared spirit of joy.

The pre-concert activities kicked off with an opening prayer led by Darlene Khaye Chan, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Program Governor. This was followed by remarks from Mrs. Ameurpina DL. Costa, Officer from the Office of Student Affairs and Discipline (OSAD). Students then enjoyed food stalls and booths set up by various course programs, creating a lively atmosphere as they participated in various games.

The concert began with a moving prayer song by Zarah Michelle Dacayo, a student from the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) Program. Fr. John Anthony C. Losbañes, Secretary to the Executive Vice President (EVP), also addressed the crowd, setting the tone for the evening.

A diverse lineup of performances ensued, including solos by Precious Sarah Quiben (BSOA), Jeanzen Carrasco (BS in Criminology), Zarah Michelle Dacayo, and Jerome Delos Santos (BSBA). The crowd was also captivated by Krisha Cuento, a BS Criminology student, who delivered a romantic touch with a saxophone performance.

In a surprise twist, faculty members including Sir Mariano Quiñones, Sir Christian Evangelista, Sir Jessie Dela Vega, Sir Lowie Baoy, Sir Steven Delante, and Ma’am Edz Lumasac took to the stage, offering surprise performances that delighted attendees.

The event also featured live music from local bands Ada Jukse, Bullet Fruit, Zolabengbeng, Daydream, and Ecstasy, who performed popular OPM hits. Bullet Fruit showcased an original song that left a lasting impression on the audience.

The evening wrapped up with the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Valentine and a closing prayer, marking the end of a night full of music, laughter, and camaraderie.

The concert was part of the 77th founding anniversary celebration of MCCB, aimed at fostering a sense of community among students and faculty while celebrating love, unity, and the power of music.

A PILGRIM OF HOPE: MCC BALER CELEBRATES 77TH FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY

FEBRUARY 17–With the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: MCC 77 Years of Journeying Full of Hope for a Brighter Future,” Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) reached another milestone as the institution celebrated its 77th founding anniversary.

The two-day celebration commenced with a thanksgiving mass held at Baler church presided by Rev. Fr. John Anthony C. Losbañes, Secretary to the Executive Vice President (EVP), together with Rev. Fr. Ariel N. Loterte, Finance Administrator.

Before the mass ended, Carmelian employees from Kinder-Grade School (KGS), Junior High School (JHS), Senior High School (SHS), Higher Education Department (HED), and Non-Teaching Personnel (NTP) who rendered years of service in MCCB were recognized and given awards. For five years in service the awardees included Ms. Abigail P. Esteban (KGS), Ms. Aira Glenn C. Dela Torre (SHS), Mr. John Ray G. Maaño (SHS), Mrs. Julie Ann S. Sese (SHS), Mrs. Roselyn M. Vicente-Obar (HED), Mrs. Jeny Lyn H. Go (NTP). For ten years in service the awardees were Mrs. Jeanete Q. Querijero (NTP), Mr. Rommel N. Angara (SHS), Mrs. Emelie M. Gutierrez (NTP), Mr. Roel N. Julio (NTP), and Mrs. Lord Lorelie A. Salvador (NTP). Mrs. Maria Socorro C. Novicio, Mrs. Mercedita S. Asuncion, and Mr. Mariano A. Quiñones received service award for being employees of MCCB for twenty-five years, thirty years, and thirty-five years respectively.

In response to the given recognition, Mr. Quiñones gave a heartfelt message in which he shared his profound gratitude and meaningful experiences being in MCCB for more than three decades.

A parade followed with its route starting from MCCB main campus going to Quezon Highway, Bonifacio St., Burgos St., and back to MCCB main campus.

As the first set of events, the thanksgiving mass and the parade were attended by MCCB administrators, personnel, staff, and students.

AB, BSBA, BSOA HOLD SYMBOLIC PINNING AND SEND-OFF CEREMONY FOR INTERNS

FEBRUARY 15–With the theme “Future Carmelian Professionals: Pilgrims of Hope, Lighting the Path to Inspire and Lead,” Bachelor of Arts (AB) Program, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Program, and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) Program of Higher Education Department (HED) held a symbolic pinning and send-off ceremony at Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB), Extension Campus, Brgy. Pingit, Baler, Aurora.

The program commenced with the entrance of interns together with their parents/guardians. Mr. Steven Melvin II V. Delante, AB Program Coordinator, led the para-liturgy followed by the singing of the national anthem and college hymn.

Mrs. Heraldine S. Villamora, College Affairs Officer (CAO), gave welcome remarks wherein she expressed her warm greetings to all attendees.

Three guest speakers shared valuable insights and heartfelt messages aiming to share inspiration and encouragement to the interns.

The first guest speaker—retired PMAJ Danilo B. Sison, a former AB Sociology student from batch 1994—greeted the interns warmly and addressed their key responsibilities. He reminded them not to fear failure but face it with courage. “Huwag kayong matakot sa pagkabigo dahil ang bawat pagkakamali ay hamon, at ang hamon ay pagkakataon,” Mr. Sison stated, reminding the students that each mistake is both a challenge and an opportunity for growth.

Continuing the stream of inspirational messages, the second guest speaker—Mr. Andro Jeff KC F. Daquiz, a former BSBA-Financial Management (FM) student from batch 2011—delivered an impactful message encouraging the interns to embrace their future roles with courage, passion, and resilience.

The third speaker—Ms. Jaymie H. Reyes, a former BSOA student from batch 2017—shared her journey and the valuable lessons she learned along the way, leaving the audience both motivated and inspired by her life experiences.

Certificates of appreciation were given to the guest speakers.

Presentation of interns was led by the program dean and coordinators. Mr. Delante presented the interns from AB, Mrs. Florabel B. Aragon presented the interns from BSBA, and Mrs. Maria Myla V. Carrasco presented the interns from BSOA. It was followed by the highly anticipated part of the event—the pinning ceremony.

The program continued with the candle lighting ceremony. Afterwards, words of response were given by representative interns from the three course programs followed by student intern pledge.

To officially conclude the program, everyone prayed the "Panalangin ng Carmelian". It was followed by photo op.

EMPOWERING THE PILGRIMS OF HOPE: AB, BSBA, BSOA CONDUCT PRE-INTERNSHIP SEMINAR

FEBRUARY 8–Highlighting the theme “Empowering Interns as Pilgrims of Hope in their Journey of Professional Growth,” fourth year students from Bachelor of Arts (AB) Program, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Program, and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) Program participated in the pre-internship seminar held in the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) of Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) Extension Campus (Annex).

Three notable speakers facilitated the seminar: Mrs. Maria Myla V. Carrasco, BSOA Program Coordinator; Mrs. Florabel B. Aragon, BSBA Program Dean; and Mr. Steven Melvin II V. Delante, AB Program Coordinator.

Mrs. Carrasco discussed the role of emotional intelligence in personality development for workplace success, emphasizing that individuals with high emotional intelligence are most likely to succeed in both the workplace and life. As she explained the importance of emotional intelligence Mrs. Carrasco gave a reminder to the interns: “As you step into your careers, remember that technical skills may get you the job, but emotional intelligence will help you thrive.”

Mrs. Aragon delved into the technicalities of etiquette essentials for graduating students, outlining workplace ethics and professionalism. She encouraged the students not just to aim to become good employees but to strive to be great ones. Additionally, she urged them to imbibe the Carmelian spirit of prayer, compassion, and prophetic action in their workplaces.

Mr. Delante explained the concepts of leadership and management in the workplace. He highlighted that “Leadership is not a position, it is a character,” and expressed his hopes for every Carmelian professional to become a servant in their respective fields.

The pre-internship seminar aimed to equip fourth year students with essential skills to ensure their efficiency, productivity, and ability to create a positive working environment as they prepare for their upcoming on-the-job training. It also sought to prepare these future Carmelian graduates for professional success and increase their employability as they venture into the world of employment.

BREAKING THE STIGMA: MCCB HOLDS GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING ORIENTATION, MENTAL HEALTH SEMINAR

FEBRUARY 8–In a powerful move to combat mental health stigma, the Guidance Office of Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) hosted the last day of student orientation, featuring a comprehensive seminar on guidance, counseling, and mental health awareness. Led by experts—Dr. Adora Lopez, guidance counselor; Mrs. Jemmimah G. Omaña and Ms. Dawn Frances Aira A. Rada, guidance advocates—the seminar provided crucial insights and support to MCCB college students.

Prior to the mental health seminar, essential support services were introduced to the attendees—the library services, clinic services, and finance services—providing the students with valuable information on the resources available to them.

Ms. Dawn Frances Aira A. Aragon, a registered psychometrician, initiated the discussion by clarifying the purpose of the Guidance Office. She emphasized that the office is not solely intended for students who are struggling academically or behaviorally, but also serves as a resource for addressing concerns, providing counseling, and offering support in various aspects.

Dr. Adora Lopez, a guidance counselor, shared exercises to help cope with stress. Dr. Lopez discussed the stigma surrounding mental health in the Philippines and recommended mental health apps that aid in coping and support individuals with mental health challenges.

Mrs. Jemmimah Gonzales Omaña, a guidance advocate, delivered a presentation on “Building Resilience and Emotional Agility.” She emphasized the significance of our experiences, whether positive or negative, as they enable us to learn and grow. She also discussed strategies for building resilience and developing emotional intelligence. Mrs. Omaña ended with a thought-provoking exercise, asking students to affirm, “I am healing, growing, I will get through it.”

Ms. Rada delivered a presentation on “Self-Care Hacks for College Students.” Her engaging and relatable talk captivated the students’ attention, sharing her college experiences and offering practical tips on forming healthy sleep habits, as well as advice on effective time management. She concluded with a quote, “Sometimes, self-care is just surviving the week without losing your mind.”

The success of the last day of student orientation was made possible through the collaboration of the Guidance Office, the Student Body Organization (SBO), and the Office of Student Affairs and Discipline (OSAD), led by Ms. Ameurpina DL. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS: MCCB HED HOLDS EARTHQUAKE DRILL AND AWARENESS SESSION

FEBRUARY 7–The Higher Education Department (HED) of Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) held a disaster preparedness and awareness session featuring two experts: Mr. Hector N. Dela Torre Jr., Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer III (Officer-In-Charge of MDRRMO Baler), and Mr. Donald Allan Ty, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer II.

Mr. Dela Torre discussed the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System, emphasizing Republic Act No.10121, the law that mandates the government and citizens to prepare for disasters. He also highlighted the importance of preparedness in mitigating the impact of disasters.

Mr. Ty explained how to conduct an earthquake drill, detailing the necessary steps and phases. He emphasized the proper procedures for ensuring safety during earthquake.

An earthquake drill was conducted, involving students and faculty members to ensure that everyone knows the appropriate response during an earthquake.

The activity focused on equipping students with knowledge and practical skills related to earthquake preparedness. The session aimed to foster a culture of proactive disaster response among students, empowering them to take an active role in mitigating casualties and ensuring their safety, and the safety of their community.
