HED HOSTS POST-VALENTINE’S DAY CONCERT
The Higher Education Department (HED) of Mount Carmel College of Baler (MCCB) ushered in an atmosphere of love and celebration with its “Hope, Peace, Love: Post-Valentine’s Day Concert.” Held on February 17, the event featured a dynamic mix of music, games, and heartfelt performances, all aimed at bringing together students and faculty in a shared spirit of joy.
The pre-concert activities kicked off with an opening prayer led by Darlene Khaye Chan, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Program Governor. This was followed by remarks from Mrs. Ameurpina DL. Costa, Officer from the Office of Student Affairs and Discipline (OSAD). Students then enjoyed food stalls and booths set up by various course programs, creating a lively atmosphere as they participated in various games.
The concert began with a moving prayer song by Zarah Michelle Dacayo, a student from the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) Program. Fr. John Anthony C. Losbañes, Secretary to the Executive Vice President (EVP), also addressed the crowd, setting the tone for the evening.
A diverse lineup of performances ensued, including solos by Precious Sarah Quiben (BSOA), Jeanzen Carrasco (BS in Criminology), Zarah Michelle Dacayo, and Jerome Delos Santos (BSBA). The crowd was also captivated by Krisha Cuento, a BS Criminology student, who delivered a romantic touch with a saxophone performance.
In a surprise twist, faculty members including Sir Mariano Quiñones, Sir Christian Evangelista, Sir Jessie Dela Vega, Sir Lowie Baoy, Sir Steven Delante, and Ma’am Edz Lumasac took to the stage, offering surprise performances that delighted attendees.
The event also featured live music from local bands Ada Jukse, Bullet Fruit, Zolabengbeng, Daydream, and Ecstasy, who performed popular OPM hits. Bullet Fruit showcased an original song that left a lasting impression on the audience.
The evening wrapped up with the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Valentine and a closing prayer, marking the end of a night full of music, laughter, and camaraderie.
The concert was part of the 77th founding anniversary celebration of MCCB, aimed at fostering a sense of community among students and faculty while celebrating love, unity, and the power of music.
