On June 8, 2026, Dr. Darren N. Naelgas, Education Program Supervisor and Division Representative of DepEd-Aklan, conducted an orientation on the implementation of the Strengthened Senior High School (SSHS) Curriculum for Senior High School (SHS) learners and teachers of Balete Integrated School.

The orientation aimed to familiarize participants with the key features of the SSHS Curriculum, explain its goals and benefits, and provide guidance on its role in strengthening senior high school education. SHS learners and teachers from both the Academic and Technical-Professional Tracks attended the activity.

During the orientation, Dr. Naelgas addressed questions and concerns regarding the curriculum's implementation. He also provided recommendations on teachers' workload and instructional responsibilities to support the effective delivery of learning under the strengthened curriculum.

The activity was supported by School Principal III Dr. Guia G. Panganonong and Head Teacher IV and District Head Ma. Rowena L. Birol, together with all SHS teachers who actively participated in the discussions and shared insights on the implementation of the new curriculum.

โ€œAng kagandahan po ng bago nating curriculum ay matutulungan at mapapadali nito ang pagpili ng tatahaking larangan sa kolehiyo at maging ang paghahanda sa pagpasok sa mundo ng trabaho ng ating mga Senior High School graduates," Dr. Naelgas emphasized.

The engagement strengthened collaboration among DepEd officials, school leaders, teachers, and learners, ensuring a smoother and more responsive implementation of the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum at Balete Integrated School.

The DepEd Region VI and the DepEd Schools Division of Aklan conducted an Opening of Classes monitoring at Balete Integrated School on June 8, 2026, to assess the school's readiness and the implementation of procedures for the opening of School Year 2026โ€“2027.

Leading the monitoring were Dr. Jude Thaddeus Iledan, Chief of the Field Technical Assistance Division of DepEd Region VI, and Dr. Darren N. Naelgas, Education Program Supervisor and Division Representative of DepEd-Aklan. They evaluated the school's preparedness in terms of classroom readiness, learner attendance, school operations, and compliance with DepEd guidelines to ensure a safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment.

The officials were welcomed by School Principal III, Dr. Guia G. Panganonong, together with teachers and school personnel, who presented the school's preparations and initiatives for the opening of classes.

The monitoring visit highlighted the strong collaboration among the school, the Schools Division Office, and the Regional Office in ensuring the successful implementation. It also reaffirmed the Department of Education's commitment to providing quality basic education through continuous technical assistance and field support.

The Balete Integrated School officially welcomed more than 1,600 learners as it opened School Year 2026โ€“2027, implementing the 3-Term rollout and featuring a week-long Opening Block to ensure a smooth transition into the new academic year.

The opening of classes was marked by a Flag Raising Ceremony attended by learners, teachers, parents, and stakeholders, highlighting the school communityโ€™s shared commitment to safety, inclusivity, and quality education.

Dr. Guia G. Panganonong, School Principal III, led the activity and emphasized the importance of unity and collective responsibility among members of the school community.

The ceremony was joined by Hon. Dominic Villaruel, Barangay Kagawad and Chair for Education, PTA President Mr. Clarin Barrios, teachers from Kindergarten to Senior High School, and personnel from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and Special Needs Education (SNED), reflecting the strong partnership of stakeholders in promoting inclusive learning.

In support of Oplan Balik Eskwela 2026, the Balete Municipal Police Station (PNP), together with the BSP Scouts, participated in the Flag Raising Ceremony while in their official uniforms. Their presence reinforced the importance of discipline, preparedness, safety, and service as classes officially resumed.

The week-long Opening Block under the 3-Term Rollout also highlighted the values of cooperation, respect, perseverance, and unity, setting a positive direction for the school year.
