𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊|| 𝗕𝗜𝗦𝗨 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 2024-2025

The second semester at Bohol Island State University - Balilihan Campus officially began on January 13, 2024, with a flag ceremony followed by a Thanksgiving Mass presided by Fr. Jayson Yecyec, and a Campus Fellowship for the non-Catholic. These spiritual services were attended by students, faculty, and staff which served as light and guide in the beginning of the new semester.

The simple ceremony marked the start of a new academic term for the campus.

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐘 𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐇𝐎𝐍 || 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗶𝗷𝗮, 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸

Magsija, Balilihan, Bohol, will experience a mix of scattered thunderstorms, showers, and partly cloudy skies this week, from January 13 to 19, 2025. Temperatures will range from 29°C to 30°C, accompanied by varying humidity levels and moderate winds.

Scattered thunderstorms will start the week on January 13 and 14, with a 40% rain chance and moderate winds of 19 km/h. Humidity levels will remain high at 86% to 85%, adding to the damp and humid conditions.

On January 15, thunderstorms will intensify slightly, with a 50% chance of rain, higher humidity at 87%, and stronger winds of 21 km/h. The weather will begin to ease on January 16 and 17, with scattered showers bringing a 30% chance of rain and winds calming to 18 km/h.

By the weekend, conditions will improve. January 18 will see partly cloudy skies and minimal rain (5% chance), with humidity dropping to 84% and winds slowing to 16 km/h. On January 19, scattered showers may return with a slight 20% chance of rain, accompanied by light winds at 13 km/h.

Residents are advised to stay prepared for wet conditions early in the week and enjoy clearer skies toward the weekend. Keep umbrellas handy and remain cautious during outdoor activities.

Are the sounds of firecrackers from Christmas and New Year still ringing in your ears? BISUANS, it’s time to move on because, in the blink of an eye, the holidays and the semestral break are over!

It feels like it was just yesterday—the frantic rush to buy gifts, the excitement of decorating the house, the stressful task of preparing for family gatherings, and the joyous meetups with friends by the sea. Oh, how fast time flies these days! And yet, here we are, now packing up the decorations and cherishing the memories of another holiday season well spent.

Be reminded that first-year to fourth-year students are advised to wear the prescribed uniform, and proper haircut for male students as per the Memorandum No. 004 Series of 2025 signed by Dr. Zina Sayson, University Vice President for Student Affairs and Services. Students are expected to strictly comply with the Proper Dress Code Policy.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 || BISU Balilihan Research Office holds Research Proposal Writeshop for External and Institutional Funding

The Research Unit of BISU Balilihan started their fiscal year with a Research Proposal Writeshop for External and Institutional Funding held on January 9, 2025 at the Bohol First Congressional District Library. With its aim to producing funded research and extension projects, the writeshop was fully capacitated by abled speakers, Ms. Ivy Jane Asilo and Ms. Ghena Asucan, who shared equally important information in drafting the research proposals both for institutional and external funding.

The writeshop was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Research Unit led by the Director of Research, Dr. Evangielyn P. Lumantas, and the collaboration of the faculty researchers of BISU Balilihan Campus.

Balilihan Celebrates Rizal Day: A Solemn Tribute to the Hero

The Municipality of Balilihan marked the 128th anniversary of Rizal’s martyrdom with a heartfelt celebration at the Balilihan Municipal Plaza, honoring the enduring legacy of the national hero. Among those in attendance were the BISU Balilihan faculty and staff, headed by the Campus Director, Dr. Jean F. Nebrea.

The program commenced with a prayer, followed by the singing of hymns led by the BISU Balilihan Campus Choir. One of the highlights of the event was the wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of Jose Rizal, where local officials, teachers, and uniformed personnel gathered to pay homage to Rizal’s sacrifices and contributions to the nation. The celebration concluded with a mass singing of “Ang Bayan Ko,” a patriotic song that resonated with the spirit of unity and love for the country.

The Rizal Day celebration in Balilihan was not just a tribute to history but also a call to action, urging citizens to embody the virtues of patriotism, resilience, and service that Rizal exemplified.

Sa araw na ito, ginugunita natin hindi lamang ang kabayanihan ni Dr. José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonzo Realonda o mas kilalang Dr. Jose Rizal, kundi ang kaniyang diwa ng pagmamahal sa bayan, wika, at kalayaan. Ito ay naging simbolo ng katatagan at inspirasyon upang ipaglaban ang ating pagkakakilanlan bilang Pilipino. Sa kabila ng mga pagsubok ng panahon, ang kaniyang mga salita ay nananatiling gabay sa ating patuloy na pakikibaka para sa mas maunlad na bansa.

Sa pagdiriwang ng Rizal Day, nawa'y magising ang ating mga puso at isipan sa kahalagahan ng pagkakaisa, pagmamahal sa bayan, at pagkilala sa sariling kultura. Huwag nating kalimutan na tayo ang tagapagmana ng adhikain ni Rizal. Tayo ang susi sa pagkamit ng kaniyang pangarap para sa isang malaya, maunlad, at makatarungang Pilipinas. Tandaan,

Kay saya bumalik sa pagkabata, sa panahong ang liwanag ng mga parol at kumukutitap na Christmas lights ay sapat na upang magdala ng tuwa sa ating mga puso. Simpleng kasiyahan lang noon—ang pangangaroling sa bawat bahay, ang pagdiriwang kasama ang pamilya, at ang pananabik sa mga simpleng regalong makikita sa ilalim ng Christmas tree. Pero ngayon, tila nagbago na ang lahat. Ang dating masiglang Pasko ay napalitan ng abala sa trabaho, eskuwela, at iba pang responsibilidad. Ang mga handaan at dekorasyon, na dati’y puno ng mahika, ay nagiging mapurol, at ang saya ng Kapaskuhan ay tila nahihigitan ng alalahanin sa mga gastusin at komplikasyon ng buhay.

Ngayon, habang tumatanda tayo, tila nagbago ang pasko dahil ang nagpapasaya sa atin ay nagbago rin. Ang simpleng regalo noon ay napalitan na ng mas malalim na hangarin—kapayapaan, pagmamahalan, at masayang pagsasama ng pamilya. Ang Pasko ay hindi tungkol sa kung ano ang nawala—kundi sa kung ano ang patuloy nating ibabahagi—pag-ibig, liwanag, at pag-asa. Hindi kailanman nawawala ang liwanag nito, dahil ito’y hindi nakabase sa materyal na bagay o magagarang handa. Sa simpleng pagpapakita ng malasakit at pagkakabuklod ng pamilya, muling magniningning ang diwa ng Pasko. Sa huli, nasa atin ang kapangyarihang gawing makulay muli ang Kapaskuhan, anuman ang dumaan na pagbabago.

Ano bang mas gusto mong matanggap ngayong pasko? Mango float o regalo?

Hala, Christmas na naman? Ang bilis talaga ng oras parang naka-time lapse, naka-fastforward—at wala man lang pause button na p'wedeng pindutin kung gusto mong magpahinga muna sa mga sigawan na umaalingawngaw sa paligid, o sa mga ingay ng mabibilis na sasakyang dumaraan sa kalsadang usok lang ang iniiwan. Pero mabuti na lang at matitikman ko ulit kung gaano katamis ang mangga at graham sa mango float ni Mama sa gabing awit ni Jose Mari Chan ang yumayakap sa lahat ng pasilyo sa bahay, i-ga-gaslight ko na lang ang sarili na masaya rin ako. At kung papipiliin ako sa mango float at regalo? Sobrang obvious naman yata ng sagot sa tanong na 'yan. S'yempre mga ngiti at makikinang na mga mata mo pa rin ang hahanapin ko.

Wala na ba talaga akong matatanggap na chat mula sa 'yo, idol? Kahit isang greetings na lang ng Merry Christmas o Happy Holidays diyan. Bilisan mo na kasi! Baka makahabol pa tayo't masamahan mo pa akong magsimbang gabi na may kahawak-kamay sa simbahan. Umuwi sa bahay na may sumusubo sa 'yo ng graham bar. O baka kahalikan sa ilalim ng mistletoe sa tapat ng aming kapitbahay. At baka hindi ka na mag-isa sa ilang pasko pa ang magdaan. Hindi kasi ako iyong tipo na nang-iiwan na lang bigla sa New Year, handa akong samahan ka kahit saan pa tayo dalhin ng oras. Wala, eh, natalo mo na nga ako sa larong chess, binaliw mo pa ako ng sobra. Ngumingiti ka na naman kasi sa'kin! Ang daya mo naman, idol. Mag-chat ka naman sa'kin, h'wag lang puro nakaw-tingin. Handa naman akong buksan ang puso ko para sa 'yo, eh. Ikaw na kaya 'yan!
