โYou should have a dream. You should embrace life's struggles and love your family. And never doubt yourself.โ
This was highlighted by Mr. Rejelou Estobo in his inspirational message as the resource speaker at the commencement exercise, or the Pagkilaea ag Pagpadungog 2025 of the College of Arts and Sciences, at ASU-Banga Amphitheater on Monday, May 26, 2025.
The sentiment of achievement of the CAS students was echoed as the President of Aklan State University Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin conveyed his congratulatory and motivational message to the crowd.
โThere are three Ps! The First P stands for 'passion', the next for 'persistence', and most importantly, the last stands for 'prayer'. Let your passion guide you, your persistence support you and your prayer inspire you. You have to always carry this with you,โ said Dr. Clarin.
Moreover, Dr. Donna R. Lariosa, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, took the stage and introduced the distinguished guest speaker, Mr. Regelou Estoboโan AB Mathematics graduate from the class of 2009.
Mr. Estobo noted the importance of having guidance and motivation in his speechโbecause, just like many of the students who struggle financially, he, too, has gone through it and reminded the students to never give up despite life's circumstances.
โI faced economic hardship, but that didn't stop me from achieving my dreamโto graduate from college. After I graduated, I helped my sibling, who had to stop schooling, get back to school.โ
Furthermore, Mr. Von Merrill F. Ysunza, Chair of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), encouraged the students in his closing remarks to persevere and continue on their quest for excellence in both academic and personal realms.
The said ceremony centered on recognizing the academic excellence of the students from BA in Communication, BA in English Language Studies, BS in Applied Mathematics, and BS in Biology programs for the Academic Years 2023-2024 (Second semester) and 2024-2025 (First semester).
Pagkilaea ag Pagpadungog is annually celebrated to recognize the students' excellence, hard work, and dedication in the realm of academia.
