12TH Infantry Battalion took an active role in the implementation of the Fiscal Year 2025 Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP), conducted on April 22, 2025 held at District 21 Hotel, Manduriao, Iloilo City in collaboration with local government units (LGUs) and barangays.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the partnership between government agencies and the Armed Forces in addressing the root causes of insurgency by delivering essential services and development programs to grassroots communities.
The event was graced by key government officials, including Engr. Carmelo F. Orbista, CESO V, Provincial Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), along with MLGOO's from various municipalities in the Province of Iloilo.
Also present were barangay leaders from different communities, highlighting the collective commitment of stakeholders to promote peace, good governance, and inclusive development.
The RCSP remains a crucial platform for building resilient, empowered communities through participatory governance and integrated local development initiatives.

Calinog, Iloilo – The 12th Infantry (LICK ‘EM) Battalion successfully unearthed the remains of Gino Giganto, also known as "Luyong", a member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), at Sitio Bidang, Barangay Siya, Tapaz, Capiz, on April 21, 2025.

Alias "Luyong", originally from Barangay Lahug, Tapaz, Capiz, was identified as a member of Squad 2 of Dismantled Central Front, KR-Panay. Based on accounts from former rebels, "Luyong" succumbed to complications from an untreated illness—exacerbated by the harsh living conditions endured while hiding in the mountains—ultimately resulting in cardiac arrest. He died far from the care and presence of his family.

His death underscores the grim reality faced by members of the armed group: a life of constant fear, hardship, and suffering. Isolated and deprived of proper medical attention and the warmth of loved ones, many suffer similar fates—unseen, unheard, and forgotten.

In line with the government’s commitment to peace and reconciliation, the remains of alias "Luyong" will be given a decent and dignified burial, a testament to the principle that every Filipino life, regardless of past affiliations, deserves respect and humanity.

Through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), the government continues to provide opportunities for former rebels to surrender, reintegrate into society, and rebuild their lives. The 12IB assures those still in the armed movement that 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝—𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. They will be treated with dignity and receive the necessary support to live peacefully and reunite with their families.

Banga, Aklan – In an ongoing effort to promote peace and stability in Western Visayas, government forces successfully recovered a cache of war materials belonging to the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), including a high-powered firearm, concealed deep in the hinterland boundaries of Aklan and Capiz.

The operation began at around 9:00 AM on April 14, 2025, in Sitio P**a, Brgy. Dalagsaan, Libacao, Aklan, after receiving important information from informants in Kalibo and New Washington.
The success of the mission was made possible with the strong support of the Aklan provincial government and the continued efforts of the RTF-ELCAC, under the chairmanship of the Provincial Governor, to fully dismantle the remaining members of the Komiteng Rehiyon–Panay (KR-Panay).

The recovered items included one (1) U.S. M2 .30 Carbine, two (2) anti-tank mines, 15 rounds of 40mm high-explosive cartridges, 178 rounds of linked 7.62mm ammunition, 49 rounds of 7.62mm ball ammunition, four AK-47 magazines, and various assembly parts for an M14 rifle.

Authorities believe that this cache was hidden by members of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay (KR-Panay), who are currently inactive and contemplating surrender. Their decision to abandon these materials signifies a significant shift within the ranks of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), as more members are moving away from armed conflict and toward peaceful reintegration.

This breakthrough highlights an important trend in CTG-white areas. Communities are rejecting the presence of insurgents and stepping up to help eradicate CTG's influence, demonstrating that peace is a collective victory.

Arrested NPA’s tip leads to recovery of arms cache in Quezon

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - Information from a recently arrested NPA leader led soldiers to recover an arms cache in Lopez, Quezon, Sunday, April 6.

According to reports from the 201st Infantry Brigade, soldiers of the 85th Infantry Battalion acted on information from Darwin Palo alias Queen, an NPA leader apprehended last March 27, regarding the location of an arms cache in Barangay Mal-ay.

The cache contains an M16 rifle, two anti-personnel mines, four magazines for M16 with 67 rounds of ammunition, 20 rounds of ammunition for M14, rwo bandoliers, 30 meters detonating cord, and a butt stock for an RPK-47 rifle.

It can be recalled that Palo was apprehended in Lucena City after soldiers and police served him theee arrest warrants for various crimes, including multiple attempted murder, double homicide, frustrated homicide, and attempted homicide.

The commander of the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division Major General Cerilo Balaoro Jr in a statement attributed this feat to the continuous intelligence-driven operations and intensified collaboration with communities and former rebels.

“We can see the decline of the CTG’s capabilities due to the neutralization and apprehension of its key leaders and other significant personalities," said Major General Balaoro.

"Their fi****ms, explosives, and war materiel are now being recovered one by one, preventing them from launching hostile actions against our people,” Major General Balaoro added.

He also said that 2ID will continue to thwart the activities of the remaining terrorist NPA in the area until they are completely dismantled.

Meanwhile, the recovered items were turned over to the proper authorities for documentation and proper disposition.

12IB and Partners Turn Over Php 600,000.00 Cheque to Uswag Nipa Bayanihan Association

Calinog, Iloilo – The 12th Infantry "LICK 'EM" Battalion, in partnership with the 3rd Civil-Military Operations Battalion, and in collaboration with Ailyn B. Zerrudo, DSWD-SLP Provincial Coordinator, Mary Chris C Medina, DOLE-LEO III, Kenneth B. Laverosa, Senior TESO Speacialist from TESDA, Rovelyn C. Paulmanal, Project Development Officer II, and PCOL Ricardo B. Jomuad Jr. from PNP turned over a Php 600,000.00 cheque to the Uswag Nipa Bayanihan Association during a handover ceremony at Brgy. Nipa, Culasi, Roxas City on April 10, 2025.

The assistance was provided under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) to support community-based livelihood initiatives. This milestone event reflects the united efforts of government agencies and security forces to uplift the socio-economic status of communities by providing them with the means to establish or enhance livelihood enterprises. The intervention is designed to promote long-term development, self-reliance, and resilience among the beneficiaries.

Through inter-agency collaboration, the initiative aims to address poverty and promote peace, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas. It underscores the shared commitment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and its partner agencies in fostering inclusive growth and sustainable transformation in grassroots communities.

On this day, we commemorate the bravery of our heroes who stood firm in the face of oppressions, the unyielding spirit of our forefathers who fought bravely for our freedom, the gallantry of our present generation of soldiers who continue to secure and protect our country and people, and the resilience of our citizens who continuously thrive to uphold the dignity and integrity of our nation.

We salute and honor their heroic deeds and their courage in defying the odds to ensure a peaceful environment livable for future generations.

We, therefore, take inspiration from their feats to embody the same grit, vigilance, and adaptability in all our undertakings. Young bloods, such as us, shall continue their legacy as protectors of our nation’s dignity and the defenders of our future. We shall continue to draw strength from each other, from our families, from our friends, and from the sacrifices of those who came before us.

Let us move forward in service to others, ready to march into the abyss of conflict, so that others may dwell in the calm of peace, rise to the promise of opportunity, and forever breathe the air of freedom.
