The 7th Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command, Philippine Army, held a Retirement Ceremony at Kapatiran Hall, 701CDC, Camp Lapulapu, Apas, Cebu City to honor the meritorious service of MSg Vicente C Tañeza (Inf) PA and SSg Ryan B Sobrevega (CE) PA.

COL EDGAR G MANGABAY INF (GSC) PA, Group Commander, served as the Keynote Speaker, delivering an inspiring message of gratitude and pride for the retirees' years of service.

The 7RCDG family extends its deepest appreciation and salute to our retirees for their unwavering commitment to duty and country.

In a world that tells us to slow down, Myrna D. Mengote has chosen to do the exact opposite. At 70 years old, this remarkable woman from Samar is a Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) student at Lapu-Lapu City College and a proud member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). She is living proof that a person's spirit is not defined by their age.

Nanay Myrna’s story is a direct and powerful challenge to every assumption about duty. She could have retired, but instead, she chose to serve. She joined the ROTC because, as she puts it, it is her way to serve the country—a profound act of love and patriotism. Her stand proves that ROTC’s core values of honor, courage, and service are open to anyone with the will to embody them.

To the young people of today, her message is clear: if a 70-year-old can still find the will to serve and inspire a generation, what is holding you back? Don’t just be a witness to her incredible journey—become a part of a movement. Follow the lead of Nanay Myrna. Join the ROTC. Your greatest legacy will be one of service and courage.
