The Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET), initiated their advocacy seminar titled โPAMET Career Advocacy Program: Promoting the Medical Technology Profession and Laboratory Science Disciplineโ at Centro Escolar University-Manila at LAH Seminar Rooms 2 and 3 last October 9 2025.
In partnership with PAMET, the Philippine Society of Medical Technology Students (PHISMETS)โCEU Manila chapter alongside CEU Medical Technology Student Council (MTSC) aimed to encourage and guide the participating grade 12 students of Centro Escolar Integrated School by introducing them to the medical technology profession, highlighting its importance in healthcare, and providing practical insights to help them make informed career choices.
Guest speaker, Ms. Georgene Jimenez, opened her presentation on Medical Technology as a career. She shed light on the indispensable contributions of medical technologists in the healthcare sector, delineating their duties in the laboratory and the various career paths a medical technology graduate can pursue.
โNot only did she [Ms. Jimenez] teach the students what it takes to be a profound medical technologist, but also shared real-life experiences that made the lessons engaging and relatable. It was also like taking up PMTP again.โ said PHISMET Vice President, Ivan John Lonzame as he expressed his appreciation for the seminarโs practical approach and its impact on the studentsโ learning experience.
Following Ms. Jimenez's presentation, question and answer period, where the attendees could respond to questions that were prepared by the PAMET members. The seminar hall was resounded with joy and enthusiasm; the audience was active in their participation, as the correct answers were rewarded with candies and gifts.
Meanwhile, a heartfelt musical performance by CEU MedTech student Mira, creating a warm and memorable atmosphere. The event eventually concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Charito M. Bermido, Dean of the School of Medical Technology.
Reflecting on the seminar, Ms. Bea Araรฑez, PHISMET CEU Manila chapter President, shared, โHonestly, Iโm really happy with how the event turned out overall. Even though there were minor lapses, seeing everyone work together so responsibly made me really proud. We all know that this event was long overdue and was originally supposed to happen last September 18, but even with the problems that came up along the way, we still managed to pull it off and make it happen.
A photo opportunity by the Medtech Frontiers was conducted to cap off the career advocacy seminar to capture memorable moments with their peers and speakers.
