President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will be in the United States (US) on July 20 to 22 upon the invitation of US President Donald Trump, Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary for American Affairs Raquel Solano says on Friday (July 18, 2025).
Marcos is the first ASEAN head of state to be invited to visit the US and to hold a meeting with Trump, Solano says.
Solano: The purpose of this visit is to further strengthen the Philippines-United States’ alliance to proactively engage the US in all aspects of the relations and seize opportunities for greater security and economic cooperation.
Aside from a bilateral meeting with Trump, Marcos will also hold separate meetings with US State Secretary Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Solano says, adding that there will also be meeting with US business leaders.
The NDRRMC has upgraded the alert status to “red,” in anticipation of the possible effects of Tropical Storm Crisin, Office of Civil Defense spokesperson Junie Castillo says.
