𝑱𝒖𝒍𝒚 𝑨𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓

Hey space enthusiasts!

We’re halfway through July, and the Astro Calendar has already delivered some exciting views!

Mars and Saturn have been gracing the evening skies. Mars becoming visible as dusk fades, and Saturn rising earlier in the east each night. If you haven’t caught them yet, there’s still time to spot these planetary highlights.

The α-Capricornid meteor shower kicked off on July 3 and will continue through August 15. It’s produced by Comet 169P/NEAT and may bring around 5 meteors per hour at its peak so keep an eye out on clear nights.

Also active now is the Southern δ-Aquariids, which began on July 12 and will run until August 23. With up to 25 meteors per hour under dark skies, this shower originating from Comet P/2008 Y12 (SOHO) is one of July’s most active.

The IAU Astronomical Society journeyed to CDM for a stargazing session. Although the skies strayed from the morning forecast and heavy clouds dimmed the view, the team’s curiosity never waned. They filled the night with lively astronomy discussions, hands-on gear practice, and team building laying strong groundwork for future observations. Even under cloud cover, the evening was both productive and inspiring.

Thank you to everyone who came to the viewing!
Despite the bad weather and the skies not clearing up, we still made the most of the night with equipment training.
While we couldn’t stargaze as planned, your presence and enthusiasm truly meant a lot!

The IAU Astronomical Society cordially invites you to attend our Telescope Setup Event taking place today, July 12, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at CDM, located along South Road Properties (SRP), Cebu City.

𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀?

ASTRO’s telescope will be set up beside the City di Mare Open Park and Play Area, near the Amalfi Residences. The location is accessible from the main road and is close to key landmarks such as Il Corso Lifemalls and Cofebux.

The Astronomical Society wrapped up ORSEM Day 2 with energy still soaring! Refreshing drinks offered , exciting games played while another round of solar viewing drew crowds eager to glimpse the Sun. The highlight? A new wave of eager applicants, inspired by the wonders of space and ready to join our growing constellation. The booth buzzed with excitement, proving once again that the universe never fails to spark curiosity.

Join us at City di Mare on July 12, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, for a special evening under the Buck Moon. Named for the time when deer grow their antlers, this moon offers a beautiful sight.

Weather permitting, you can look forward to telescope viewing to get a closer look at the moon and other interesting celestial objects.
