The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers โ€“ Ilocos Norte Laoag City Chapter (PICE INLACC) successfully celebrated its Founding Anniversary and Civil Engineering Month with a Sports Fest held at Brgy. 46 Nalbo Covered Court on October 18, 19, and 31, and at the Centennial Arena on November 8, 2025. The event gathered engineers, professionals, and students to promote camaraderie, teamwork, and the spirit of healthy competition.

Participants showcased their skills and passion through thrilling games of basketball, darts, and chess, reflecting the dedication and unity that define the civil engineering community. It was a celebration not only of achievements but also of fellowship and shared purpose.

Before advancing to the regional level, Charles Adrian Fruelda and Ezekiel Arellano, both first-year BS Civil Engineering students from the Mariano Marcos State University โ€“ College of Engineering (COE), earned top honors in the Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Elimination held on October 17 at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) โ€“ Ilocos Norte. Fruelda emerged as the Provincial Champion, while Arellano claimed second place, qualifying them to represent Ilocos Norte in the regional finals.

Their excellence continued at the 29th PSQ Regional Championship held on November 6, 2025, at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas โ€“ La Union Branch, where Fruelda was crowned Regional Champion and Arellano named First Runner-Up. Guided by Engr. Jonas Paul de la Cruz and Prof. Liwliwa Olalo, the two showcased their analytical brilliance, dedication, and passion for learning, reflecting the departmentโ€™s strong commitment to nurturing academically driven and research-oriented engineers.

As Fruelda prepares to represent Region I in the National Philippine Statistics Quiz on December 10, 2025, this milestone brings immense pride and honor to the PICE MMSU Community.
