Batangas City โ€”Bilang tugon sa patuloy na dagsa ng mga biyahero, at upang mas mabilis at maayos ang biyahe ngayong holiday season, naglabas ang Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) ng special permits para sa tatlong (3) pampasaherong barko na kayang magsakay ng karagdagang mahigit 1,200 pasahero.

Kabilang sa mga barkong binigyan ng special permit ang:
- MV Maria Erlinda ng Montenegro Shipping Lines para sa rutang Batangasโ€“Odiongan;
- MV Asia Phil ng Starlite Ferries, Inc.; at
- MV November Cattleya ng Atienza Interisland Ferries para sa rutang Batangasโ€“Calapan.

Sa pamamagitan ng mga barkong ito, mas maraming pasahero ang mabibigyan ng pagkakataong makauwi sa kanilang mga pamilya sa Romblon at Mindoro, at para mabawasan ang pila at siksikan sa mga pantalan.

Kaugnay nito, bago pa man ang inaasahang dagsa ng holiday travelers, nagpatupad na rin ang MARINA ng Relaxation Order sa buong kapuluan. Epektibo ito mula Disyembre 16, 2025 hanggang Enero 11, 2026, na nagbibigay-daan sa mga shipping company na mag-adjust ng iskedyul, magdagdag ng biyahe, at pabilisin ang turnaround ng mga barko, habang mahigpit pa ring ipinatutupad ang mga pamantayan sa kaligtasan.

Isang halimbawa ng implementasyon nito ang rutang Lucenaโ€“Romblon, kung saan kung agad na makarating sa destinasyon ang isang pampasaherong barko, maaari itong bumalik kaagad sa Lucena upang magsakay ng mas marami pang pasahero sa lugar na may mas mataas na demand.

Ayon sa MARINA, patuloy ang mahigpit na koordinasyon nito sa mga port authority, shipping companies, at iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan upang matiyak na ang mga operasyon sa dagat ngayong kapaskuhan ay ligtas, episyente, at tumutugon sa pangangailangan ng publiko.

In view thereof, the processing and issuance of the Seafarerโ€™s Record Book (SRB) and Seafarerโ€™s Identity Document (SID) at the MARINA Central Office will be SUSPENDED on the said dates.

Applicants with scheduled appointments on the said dates can process their SRB and SID on the following schedule:

Dahil sa banta ng matinding ulan at hanging dala ng Bagyong , suspendido ang trabaho sa mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan sa NCR, CAR, at Regions I, II, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, at VIII bukas, Nobyembre 10, 2025.

Suspendido rin ang klase sa lahat ng antas sa mga nabanggit na rehiyon, pati na rin sa Region VI, Region VII, at Negros Island Region sa Nobyembre 10 at 11, 2025.

San Jose, Occidental Mindoro โ€“ October 26, 2025 โ€” The Maritime Industry Authority Regional Office IV (MARINA RO IV), headed by Atty. Maximo I. Baรฑares, Jr., successfully conducted a Modified Basic Safety Training (MBST) from October 23 to 26, 2025 at Barangay 7, Poblacion, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

A total of 137 participants took part in the training, which was facilitated by the Seafarers Documentation Section. The MBST is designed to equip seafarers and maritime workers with essential safety knowledge and skills required for work onboard ships and in maritime operations.

The four-day training covered key components such as Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Firefighting, First Aid, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibility.

This initiative reflects MARINA RO IVโ€™s commitment to bringing quality maritime training closer to seafarers, especially those residing in remote and coastal communities. By conducting MBST in San Jose, MARINA ensures that local seafarers can conveniently meet mandatory safety training requirements without the need to travel to distant training centers.

MARINA RO IV continues to strengthen its mission of fostering a safer and more resilient maritime workforce in the region.

Tingloy, Batangas โ€“ The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Regional Office IV, led by Atty. Maximo I. Baรฑares, together with technical personnel, conducted a two-day consultative meeting with Mayor Lauro Alvarez and Vice Mayor Mikee Alvarez on October 27โ€“28, 2025.

The visit aimed to address issues concerning the deployment of wooden-hulled passenger and cargo vessels in several barangays of the Municipality of Tingloy that remain inaccessible by land transportation and can only be reached through sea travel.

The initiative was conducted in response to a request from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tingloy, which raised concerns about the limited availability of vessels serving the island. It may be recalled that Montenegro Shipping Lines had already deployed steel vessels for the Mabiniโ€“Tingloy route. However, according to the LGU, these vessels are insufficient to accommodate the needs of residents and the increasing number of tourists visiting the municipality.

Furthermore, the LGU explained that the modern steel vessels can only dock at Tingloy Port, leaving residents living on the opposite side of the island underserved. These communities can only be accessed by wooden-hulled boats, which continue to play a crucial role in ensuring mobility and connectivity across the island.

During the visit, Atty. Baรฑares and the technical team also conducted inspections of passenger and cargo bancas in Tingloy, Batangas, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards. The initiative reflects MARINAโ€™s ongoing commitment to promoting safe, efficient, and compliant maritime transport for local communities.

Mayor Alvarez expressed appreciation for the collaboration, noting that the engagement will help enhance service quality and safety for passengers while supporting local operators in meeting regulatory standards.
