Mary Mediatrix Medical Center launches ₱500M expansion building, paving the way for Next-Generation Healthcare in Batangas

LIPA CITY, BATANGAS — Mary Mediatrix Medical Center (Mediatrix) has officially inaugurated its new expansion building — a ₱500 million investment that is set to transform the delivery of healthcare in Southern Luzon and firmly establish Batangas as a regional medical hub.

This state-of-the-art facility is more than a physical structure; it represents Mediatrix’s long-term vision of providing accessible, high-quality, and internationally benchmarked medical services to the communities it serves.

“This investment is a strategic move by Mary Mediatrix Medical Center & Mount Grace Hospitals to increase capacity and reinforce its top standing in healthcare in Southern Luzon,” ,” said Jose Ronaldo H. De Los Santos, President and CEO of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center. “Mary Mediatrix Medical Center has always been a key part of our network, and this expansion solidifies our commitment to providing accessible, top-tier medical services to the people of Batangas and the surrounding region.”

Responding to Urgent Healthcare Needs

According to data from the hospital, the CALABARZON region ranks second only to Metro Manila in the number of heart attack cases nationwide.

To address this, Mediatrix has installed its second catheterization (cath) lab, making it the only hospital in the region with two. This major enhancement is critical in the early detection and treatment of cardiovascular diseases — a key step in lowering mortality rates in the region.

Creating Jobs, Elevating Care

The ₱500 million investment includes both the construction of the new building and the acquisition of advanced medical equipment that meets global healthcare standards.

Beyond the clinical benefits, the expansion project also brings substantial economic impact. Mediatrix is currently hiring 120 additional nurses to support its growing operations — a significant boost to local employment in the healthcare sector.

A World-Class Facility Designed for the Future

The newly opened building has been constructed with adaptability and future-readiness in mind. Designed to meet rigorous international standards, the facility includes a flexible layout that can serve as a self-contained isolation unit, ensuring readiness for any future public health emergencies.

Key features of the new expansion include:
• A dedicated Urgent Care Facility, as part of the hospital’s expanded Emergency Department
• 40 modern patient rooms, designed for comfort and efficiency
• A Wellness Center for premium and VIP patients, featuring a lounge with personalized services
• An 8-bed Neurological Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) under the new Neuroscience Center or “Brain Institute”

With this expansion, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center is well on its way to becoming the largest private hospital in Southern Luzon. The hospital is currently applying for a 210-bed license, with plans to increase capacity to 240 beds by early 2026, and 300 beds by 2030.

Heart of Batangas: A First-of-Its-Kind Cardiac Network

In line with its goal of being a regional referral center, Mediatrix launched in August “Code HB – Heart of Batangas,” the first program of its kind in the Philippines.

This initiative establishes strong partnerships with hospitals across Southern Luzon, enabling early diagnosis and emergency treatment for heart attack patients before transferring them to Mediatrix’s specialized cardiac facility.

“Our bias for quick action and response to our patients’ and communities’ needs shows that our patients are always at the center of every decision we make, even if it means a significant increase in resources,” said Allan Almazar, SVP for Operations.

The hospital is also planning to recruit 20 to 30 new doctors annually, including specialists in cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, pediatrics, gastroenterology, and surgery. As part of its long-term vision, Mediatrix is preparing to adopt robot-assisted medical procedures, keeping pace with global advances in healthcare technology.

Founded in 1958, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center is a leading healthcare institution in Batangas and a proud member of the Mount Grace Hospitals Network. Recognized as a Department of Health Center of Excellence, the hospital offers specialized services in cardiology, oncology, neuroscience, and kidney transplantation, with a strong focus on patient-centered care. LIMA Tower One Sets Benchmark as The Philippines' First WELL v2 Core Gold Certified Office

Lipa-Malvar, Batangas — LIMA Tower One, the first premium office building in Batangas, has been awarded the WELL Core Gold Certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), making it the first Gold certified development in the Philippines under Version 2, and only the second certified project in the Philippines under this version.

The WELL Building Standard is the world’s leading framework for advancing health and well-being in buildings. Achieving Gold-level recognition affirms that LIMA Tower One meets stringent global benchmarks that place human health, comfort, and well-being at the core of design and operations.

"This WELL v2 Core Gold Certification is more than an accolade. It affirms our commitment to a future where progress is not only sustainable, but also inclusive, people-focused, and deeply rooted in the communities we serve,” said Rafael Fernandez de Mesa, Head of Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates.

The WELL Core Gold recognition builds on LIMA Tower One’s earlier BERDE 5-Star Certification—the highest rating from the Philippine Green Building Council for environmental performance and resource efficiency. Together, these dual certifications underscore LIMA Tower One’s pioneering role as one of the few office developments in the Philippines to achieve top-tier accreditations for both sustainability and well-being.

Batangas’ Emerging Business Hub
Strategically located within the 70-hectare Biz Hub at LIMA Estate, the tower anchors Batangas’ first masterplanned central business district.

Beyond being a green building, LIMA Tower One is helping accelerate the decentralization of economic opportunities outside Metro Manila.

Recently named the Best BPO Office Development in the Philippines at the PropertyGuru Philippine Property Awards, LIMA Tower One is also home to Conduent’s first provincial site. Their expansion brings several thousand high-value jobs to Batangas, proving that world-class companies can thrive in regional growth centers and enabling local talent to build meaningful careers close to home.

With nearly 2,000 hectares under management, home to more than 250 global and local companies, and supporting over 100,000 direct jobs, Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates continue to serve as engines of inclusive growth. LIMA Estate, in particular, is emerging as a pioneer—transforming from a manufacturing hub into a fully integrated ecosystem of industry, commerce, lifestyle, and opportunity.

Partnership in People-Centered Design

“The achievement of WELL Core Gold for LIMA Tower One marks a transformative milestone not only as the first WELL-certified office building in CALABARZON and the first Gold certified building under WELL v2 Core in the Philippines, but as a benchmark for healthier, more sustainable, and more productive workplaces. We are grateful to have partnered with Aboitiz InfraCapital in realizing this accomplishment, which reflects their vision and commitment to building spaces that enhance wellbeing, attract investment, and set a new standard for the region and beyond,” shared Hearn & Hearn Consulting Executive Director, Michael Hearn.

As the Philippines pushes forward with regional development, LIMA Tower One stands as both a response to rising demand for premium workplaces outside the capital and a catalyst for Batangas’ emergence as a leading investment destination.

Sheet piles sa Binambang River, kulang sa haba

Mahigit ₱900M proyekto, substandard?**

(Marlon Luistro)
