If the Philippines really wants REAL change, here’s what we need to do:
1️⃣ Overhaul our politics.
Stop recycling the same names over and over. For the next election, let’s choose new leaders not the ones who’ve been in power for decades, especially those with corruption allegations. Real change can’t come from the same old hands. Start with the Barangays, people often overlook barangay officials, but they are the foundation of our government. If we elect honest and capable barangay leaders, it creates a domino effect—these good leaders won’t easily be poisoned by corrupt local officials, and in turn, we promote clean leadership at the city, provincial, and even national level.
2️⃣ Limit campaign spending.
Candidates shouldn’t be allowed to drown elections in money. Give everyone equal airtime on TV for national positions, allow posters only in designated areas, and ban donations from big business tycoons. Leaders must win on platforms not on money.
3️⃣ Pass an Anti-Political Dynasty Law.
Too much power concentrated in one family is dangerous. Dynasties have kept the same circles in control, killing opportunities for fresh leadership. Breaking that cycle opens the door for real change.
4️⃣ Shift to a Parliamentary Government.
In parliament, leaders can be removed quickly through a vote of no confidence if they lose public trust making it harder for corrupt officials to cling to power. Accountability becomes immediate, not just every 6 years.
5️⃣ Strengthen Progressive Taxation & Close Loopholes.
The rich and big corporations must pay their fair share. A fairer tax system means more funds for public services - education, healthcare, housing that directly benefit the poor and middle class.
6️⃣ Invest in Education & Job Creation.
Breaking inequality starts with equal access to quality education and decent jobs. Scholarships, skills training, and support for local industries will give Filipinos more opportunities at home, not just abroad.
7️⃣ Empower Local Manufacturing.
Let’s strengthen Philippine-made products whether in tech, agriculture, or consumer goods. By investing in local factories and industries, we create more jobs, reduce imports, and build a stronger economy from the ground up.
Until we demand these reforms, we’ll keep going in circles. Real change requires both political reform and economic reform a new system, new leaders, and new priorities that put Filipinos first.
