To strengthen international collaboration and academic exchange, Pangasinan State UniversityโBayambang Campus (PSU-BC) welcomed esteemed educators from Malaysia and India for a dynamic dialogue of teaching practices, July 1.
With the theme "Building Relationships in Dialogue and Global Education: Connecting Teachers, Cultures, and Classrooms," the event, held in partnership with PSU Binmaley and Asingan campuses, united representatives from UNITAR International University in Malaysia and Sanjivani University in India.
Dr. Ng Yu Jin, associate professor and dean of the Faculty of Education and Humanities at UNITAR University Colleges, Malaysia, discussed the increasing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in assessment practices, primarily in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and lingua skills.
Meanwhile, Professor Uthara Suresh, assistant professor and language trainer at the Department of Foreign Language in Sanjivani University, India, presented the incorporation of educational games in the learning process to foster critical thinking and active participation among students.
โStudents should contribute more and express their opinions. Learning should be student-centered, where teachers act not merely as lecturers, but as facilitators,โ Suresh noted.
Siti Nor Amira, deputy dean and senior lecturer at UNITARโs Faculty of Education and Humanities, Malaysia, shared effective teaching practices in Early Childhood Education, as well as the importance of developing the curriculum and learning environment to cater to the needs of all students.
Representing the host institution, Dr. Mitzy M. Macaraeg, dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTE), showcased the trends and practices in teacher education while highlighting the accolades of the university's alumni now teaching abroad.
Dr. Vemma Mae G. Olivar, chairperson of General Education (GE) department, emphasized the importance of stimulating critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and lifelong learning to produce holistic and future-ready individuals.
The event capped off with an open forum, allowing educators from the participating campuses to raise inquiries and exchange perspectives with their international counterparts.
