To celebrate unity and diversity among young learners, the students of the Laboratory Elementary School (LES) of Pangasinan State University-Bayambang Campus (PSU-BC) attended this year's United Nations celebration, held at the Balon Bayambang Events Center, October 17.
Carrying the theme โOne Family, One World for Global Peace,โ the event fostered harmony, respect, and understanding among nations, encouraging cultural diversity among students.
Festivities began with a parade of nations, featuring students from Grades 1 to 6 wearing traditional costumes from various countries.
In her opening remarks, Campus Executive Director Dr. Madlyn Tingco highlighted the importance of kindness, respect, and being a peacemaker. โLet us embrace our differences and treat everyone as brothers or sisters. And remember, no matter where we come from, we all share the same home and the same goal: to make a better future for a better tomorrow,โ Dr. Tingco stated.
Dr. Salome Montemayor, chairperson of the PSU LES, also gave her inspirational message. "Let us make us this opportunity, embracing the more united and peaceful nation," Dr. Montemayor remarked.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mitzy Macaraeg, dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTE), emphasized the significance of embracing individuality and respect, condemning bullying at all costs.
The program spotlighted the presentation of kindergarten pupils in the "Nations in Fashion," as well as the acrostic poem delivery by Grades 1 to 3 and dance presentations by Grades 4 to 6.
Festivities aside, this year's celebration of the United Nations instilled among PSUnians the values of understanding, peace, and inclusivity.
