BAGONG PNP PARA SA BAGONG PILIPINAS: MORALE AND WELFARE
Following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for a Bagong Pilipinas, the Philippine National Police intensifies its Focus Agenda on Morale and Welfare of Personnel, recognizing that the strength of a professional police force begins with the well-being and motivation of its people.
Under the leadership of Acting Chief PNP, Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the organization has taken a holistic approach to personnel development, ensuring that every police officer, uniformed and non-uniformed alike, feels valued, supported, and equipped to serve the Filipino people with excellence and integrity.
“When we talk about building a Bagong PNP for a Bagong Pilipinas, we start by taking care of our people,” said PLTGEN Nartatez. “A motivated police officer is not just more efficient, he is more compassionate, more focused, and more determined to serve with honor.”
From August 25 to October 10, 2025, the Philippine National Police conferred a total of 825,267 awards and commendations to its personnel, in recognition of their exceptional courage, professionalism, and dedication to duty. Their acts of bravery and service stand as a constant source of inspiration for the entire organization to uphold the PNP’s core values of Service, Honor, and Justice.
“Every medal pinned on a police officer’s chest tells a story of sacrifice,” PLTGEN Nartatez noted. “We want our men and women to know that the organization recognizes their bravery, values their dedication, and stands with their families every step of the way.”
Beyond recognition, the PNP continues to expand its welfare programs through partnerships with medical institutions that provide free hospitalization and medical care for PNP personnel and their dependents. From August 26 to October 14, 2025, the PNP Health Service rendered 190,526 medical services, 19,075 dental services, and 52,170 mental health services to personnel and their families.
Likewise, from August 26 to October 13, 2025, the organization processed a total of 187 claims for personnel who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice, highlighting its strong commitment to care for those who selflessly risk their lives in the line of duty to protect public safety.
“Behind every police badge is a family who shares in the sacrifice,” the Acting Chief PNP added. “Our programs are not just for the officers themselves but also for their loved ones who stand behind them through every mission.”
Further enhancing personnel welfare, the PNP continues to provide educational and livelihood opportunities for its members and their dependents. Through scholarship grants, partnerships with universities and private institutions, and coordination with the Home Development Mutual Fund or PAG-IBIG Fund, the organization empowers its personnel to secure affordable housing and better futures for their families.
“We want our personnel to feel that the organization is not just a workplace—it is a family that truly cares,” emphasized PLTGEN Nartatez. “Our people are our greatest asset. Their welfare is the heart of the reforms we are implementing.”
In the wake of recent calamities, personnel affected by the earthquake have also received immediate financial assistance from the PNP. Additional support from partner financial institutions continues to help personnel recover and rebuild, ensuring no one is left behind.
According to PNP Spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, the Focus Agenda on Morale and Welfare remains a cornerstone of the organization’s transformation toward a more transparent, efficient, and people-centered police service.
“Our police officers serve better when they know they are supported,” PBGEN Tuaño said. “The Focus Agenda ensures that the trust they give to the organization is reciprocated with care, recognition, and accountability, because a well-cared-for police force is a stronger, more compassionate police force for the Filipino people.”
Through these continuing reforms, the PNP reaffirms its steadfast commitment to nurture a culture of integrity, compassion, and excellence, living up to the call of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.
