The Visayas State University Reserve Officers' Training Corps Unit extends its heartfelt sympathy for the loss of a valued member of the community, Sgt Tirso E Igot Jr PA (Res), who has been in his service in the unit for years. A man with unwavering dedication, strong moral character, and steadfast principles has made a lasting impact to all who crossed paths with him.

Surely, the Unit has lost one of its considered pillars and greats. His presence within the VSU ROTC unit was invaluable, and his absence is keenly felt. His legacy will serve as a source of inspiration and guidance for our future endeavors.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and colleagues of Sgt Igot during this time of challenge.

Rest in power, sir! We honor you with the utmost respect and appreciation, as you leave a commendable impact and legacy of lasting memories to our unit.

ICYMI: The Visayas State University - Baybay ROTC Unit successfully concluded its Graduation and Turnover Ceremony in SY: 2023-2024 last May 31, 2024 at VSU Lower Oval Grounds, 1400H wherein 1,022 advance and basic cadets were officially confirmed as graduates of Batch "MATALAS" and finished their Military Science course— the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).

The most anticipated event was eagerly attended by the honored guests namely the VSU President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, alongside with Dr. Aleli A. Villocino, 1LT ROLANDO M EBCAS JR PA(RES), LTC JESON G CAPOQUIAN (INF)PA, Sr. Mary Michael G. Bactong, OSF, and other important guests in the said event.

Moreover, the event highlighted the celebration of the cadet's unwavering hard work, steadfastness, dedication, commitment and service to the country that despite the challenges encountered, their endeavors had now finally paid and rewarded off, not just to comply National Service Training Program (NSTP) course but to serve the country with valor, love, honor, duty and solidarity. The military skills and tactics they've learned alongside with the discipline, strategy, courage, precision, alertness and grit will be their utmost weapon to face any hurdles in life as students, as citizens and as future builders and defenders in the country.

This truly reflected the ROTCU's noteworthy service in shaping cadet's attributes of pride, leadership, and nationalism leaving a legacy of honor, service and excellence. A snappy salute and congratulations, Batch "MATALAS" Class of 2024. Matapang, Tatag, at Lakas!

𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 | The Visayas State University - Baybay ROTC Unit triumphantly concluded its 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙙𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟒 at the VSU Lower Oval Grounds last May 27, 2024 which saw the participation from the VSU-Baybay, VSU-Isabel, VSU-Villaba, and FCIC ROTC Units.

The said event was eagerly attended by the RAATI Chairman LTC BENJY ROBERTO G FERRERAS MNSA PA (RES), the Chief Inspector LTC JAY B OLARTE (INF) PA, VSU ROTC Commandant LTC JESON G CAPOQUIAN (INF) PA, Fr. Gary Nelson L Esguerra of the Holy Spirit Parish, and the VSU Academic Affairs Dr Rotacio S Gravoso, on behalf of the VSU President, Dr Prose Ivy G Yepes.

Moreover, the RAATI team and its members namely MSg Raul J Doliendo (Inf) PA, Msg Recho P Lopez (Ret) PA, Ssg Jonelon B Liagao (AGS) PA, Sgt Dominique G Catapatan (AGS) PA, Sgt Frederick U Guazon (Inf) PA, Cpl Mario D Picardal Jr (Inf) PA and, Pvt Rico C Carbonel (Inf) PA also made a presence in the big event.

The event's highlights demonstrated in the ceremony included the ceremonial parade, the rigorous inspection, and the military stakes such as Small Unit Tactics (SUT), Disaster and Rescue Operation (Basic Life Support), Military Courtesy and Discipline, M16 Rifle & Cal .45 Pistol Assembly and Disassembly, Map reading, and Theoretical and written examinations aiming to assess and evaluate the Corps and Cadets' efficacy and readiness in administrative capabilities and tactical proficiency while carrying out their will and missions. This also measures the cadet's prowess, precision, alertness, sharpness, and discipline in the midst of challenges.

Hence, the unit's salient achievement reflected the cadets resiliency, resoluteness, hard work and dedication for they set the benchmark of excellence in the field which was a testament to their intense preparation and ardent commitment. As they embrace the spirit of militarism, VSU-Baybay ROTC Unit's triumphs and accomplishment served as inspiration to the university with competence to maintain its standards for military education towards excellence.

ON THIS DAY in VSU ROTC History

After the then Baybay National Agricultural School (BNAS) transitioned into Visayas Agricultural College (VAC, now Visayas State University) in 1960, it set the stage for decades of relevance, integrity, truth, and excellence.

On 01 June 1961, the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Unit was activated (per General Orders No. 76, issued by the General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines on March 1, 1961) with Captain Vicente V Zuazo serving as the first Commandant of Cadets. Since then, the VSU Department of Military Science and Tactics has and will continue to form and develop leaders, defenders, and builders of our nation.

Today, we celebrate 63 years of tradition of service and leadership that is cored in our unit's values of HONOR, PATRIOTISM, and DUTY. Together, let us honor our past, celebrate our present, and pave the way for a brighter future and greater excellence!

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙨 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 - 𝘽𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙖𝙮 𝙍𝙊𝙏𝘾 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩 conducted a 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 this May 18, 2024, Saturday at the Brgy. Guadalupe gymnasium, Baybay City, Leyte, as supervised by 1LT ROLANDO M EBCAS JR PA (RES), Asst Commandant together with SSg Jacky Boy L Malinao (Inf) PA, Tactical NCO's, Cadet Officer, Sponsors and Escorts Platoon and Headquarters Platoon. In addition, the said activity was also assisted with the presence of Brgy. Captain Manuel J. Gacutan together with his Councilor, Hon. Margie Granses and Hon. Lisa Jo Masendo.

𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡: The VSU - Baybay ROTC Unit led off its special training whole day session today, 02 May 2024 at the VSU Lower Oval Grounds as 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹 for the upcoming big event which is the 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 (𝐏𝐨𝐒𝐄) to be held tomorrow, 03 May 2024.
