Paano natin masasabing tunay tayong malaya kung hindi na natin kilala kung sino tayo bilang Pilipino?
I’ve been traveling around the Philippines since 2022 as a travel content creator and every trip felt like a journey back to self, back to being Filipino.
📍 Sagada taught me the power of community.
📍 Siquijor’s healers helped me understand the roots of traditional healing.
📍 Asin Tibuok artisans showed how ingenious Filipinos can be.
📍 Yakan weavers opened my eyes to how our textiles tell our stories.
📍 Culion moved me. Who would've thought the Philippines played a huge role in the search for an effective treatment for leprosy?
📍 Puerto Princesa reminded me how far kindness and hospitality can take us.
📍 Baguio? It proved how food carries culture and memory
Through these trips, I fell in love with our people, our land, our roots…
But I also saw something painful: we're slowly losing touch with our culture. And when we lose that, we lose a piece of who we are.
Being proudly Pinoy is beyond patronizing a brand with a deep Filipino word. IYKYK
It’s about understanding our past, embracing both the beauty and the discomfort of our truth.
Kapag kilala natin ang sarili natin, kahit gaano pa kalakas ang impluwensya ng mga dayuhan… We stay grounded. We stay free.
Traveling abroad doesn’t make us any less Filipino. But I hope we take the time to explore our own country. Know the culture, talk to the locals, honor the story behind every place. I promise you, you’ll fall in love with the Philippines more than ever.
Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan, mahal kong Pilipinas. Sana, lagi kang pipiliin ng bawat Pilipino. 🇵🇭
PS: This photo was taken when I was in Lucban, Quezon during their Pahiyas Festival, sobrang rich ng culture ng Lucban at masarap pa ang pagkain! Tara, kain tayo ng suman!
