The annual campaign, established under Presidential Proclamation No. 183, aims to intensify public awareness regarding the severe health hazards linked to to***co consumption and second-hand smoke exposure.

By aligning with this national mandate, PCES seeks to educate its community on the evolving dangers of both traditional smoking and modern alternatives like va**ng.

School advocates emphasized that to***co and v**e usage do not just harm the individual user. The toxic impact extends rapidly to peers, classmates, friends, and families through second-hand exposure and behavioral influence.

According to global health data, to***co use remains a leading cause of preventable diseases, affecting respiratory and cardiovascular health even in young children.

On June 19, Sir Hilario III A. De Vera successfully held the second conduct of his feeding program, with the help of our Canteen and School Head, dedicated to the Key Stage 2 learners (Grades 4–6) of DepEd Tayo Parayao Centro ES 101320

PCES Sharpens Disaster Readiness in Q2 National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

DepEd Tayo Parayao Centro ES 101320 — In a continuous effort to promote safety and disaster preparedness, Parayao Centro Elementary School (PCES) led by our School Principal, Dr. Melanie D. Soriano, actively participated in the Second Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, June 18, 2026.

The primary objective of the drill is to equip young learners with the vital knowledge and instincts needed during a seismic event. While earthquakes remain unpredictable natural hazards, PCES emphasizes that thorough preparation is key to minimizing risks and ensuring the safety of the entire school community.

During the drill, students practiced the standard "Duck, Cover, and Hold" procedure before proceeding to designated safe areas in an orderly manner.

"We cannot predict when an earthquake will strike, but through regular drills like the NSED, we can ensure our students and staff are educated, calm, and ready to face any natural disaster safely," the school administration noted.

By regularly participating in the quarterly NSED, PCES reinforces the Department of Education's commitment to creating a culture of disaster resilience among Filipino youth. The successful ex*****on of today's drill highlights the school's readiness to protect its most valuable asset—its students.

On Thursday, June 11, Sir Hilario III A. De Vera of DepEd Tayo Parayao Centro ES 101320 shared love with all our Key Stage 1 Learners (Kindergarten to Grade 3). This act of kindness was made possible by the support and enthusiasm of our School Principal, Dr. Melanie D. Soriano, and the manpower of our School Canteen: Ma'am Amada De Vera, Ma'am Dolores Tomas, and Kuya Jobin Pidlaoan.

The act of kindness highlighted the love Mr. De Vera wanted to give back, as these very learners were among those who saw and became part of his recent endeavor.

Mr. De Vera also expressed that he is very thankful for all the people who supported him and helped make his recent undertaking possible—from our Public Schools District Supervisor, Dr. Sonia C. Adversalo, to the entire Teaching Force of Parayao Centro ES, and of course, our School Principal, Dr. Soriano, for giving him her blessing when he needed to focus on his journey.

The orientation took a deep dive into major educational transitions mandated for the current and upcoming school years. Among the important updates discussed were:

1. The Grade 6 Revised Curriculum: Insights into the updated academic framework designed to enhance learner competencies.

2. New Grading System for Kinder to Grade 1: A streamlined assessment method tailored for early childhood education.

June 8, 2026, marked the official start of another promising academic year as Parayao Centro Elementary School (PCES) opened its doors to eager students for the School Year 2026-2027.

The campus buzzed with excitement and energy as returning students reconnected with peers and new learners took their first steps into the school community.

The morning commenced with the traditional Flag Ceremony, a solemn gathering that set a tone of patriotism and focus for the upcoming months. Following the ceremony, School Principal Dr. Melanie D. Soriano took the stage to deliver a warm and inspiring welcome address. Dr. Soriano expressed her enthusiasm for the new school year and reaffirmed the institution's commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for all.

To help students—especially transferees and kindergarteners—adjust to their new environment, the school hosted a brief orientation introducing this year’s Grade Level Advisers. The introduction aimed to ease first-day anxieties, ensuring that students could easily identify and connect with their respective teachers.

As the morning assembly concluded, students were guided to their respective classrooms to begin their first day of Opening Block.

Before dismissing the general assembly, Dr. Soriano extended an invitation to the community stakeholders and parents in attendance, announcing the upcoming General Parent Orientation. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, at 3:00 PM, and will focus on DepEd's new update with regard to the New School Year, such as the grading system we have, to name one.
