PAGASA terminates the northeast monsoon or Amihan season, signaling the start of dry season.

In a bulletin, PAGASA said that the shift of wind direction from northeasterly to easterly is due to the formation of the High Pressure Area over the Northwestern Pacific.

The state weather bureau noted that some areas of Northern Luzon may still experience occasional northeasterly winds. | via Josiah Antonio

Sri Lanka shut down Wednesdays. Thailand told people to stop wearing suits. Myanmar banned cars on alternate days. Pakistan moved schools online. One war is reshaping an entire continent.

Sri Lanka has declared every Wednesday a public holiday starting March 18, 2026, effectively moving the country to a four-day work week. The measure applies to all government offices, schools, universities, and courts. Essential services like hospitals remain operational. The reason: a growing fuel crisis triggered by the Iran war and the effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, through which 90% of Asia's oil supply flows.

The government has also reintroduced fuel rationing via a QR code system — 15 litres per week for cars, 5 for motorcycles. The same system was used during Sri Lanka's 2022 economic collapse. Sri Lanka is not alone. Thailand is urging lighter clothing to cut AC use. Myanmar restricted cars to alternate days. Bangladesh moved up holidays. Pakistan shifted schools online.

One war, thousands of miles away, is now deciding which days entire countries can function.
