Dwight Howard was mysteriously snubbed from the NBA's Top 75...
..but the omission turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
The blessing?
He becomes one of the first two players ever to be inducted to the Hall of Fame TWICE IN ONE YEAR.
🔹As an individual player, notably with the Magic, Lakers, and Rockets
🔹As a key member of the 2008 Redeem Team
Dwight Howard harbored ill will against being excluded from the Top 75, as he stated in an interview prior to the Enshrinement Ceremony.
“It was a big slap in the face. but to go in the Hall of Fame twice in the same year, man it's like God said I'm gonna double-pound you with a blessing," Howard said.
That blessing is so apropo for a man who stacked up double-doubles in his prime like it's nothing.
From being universally beloved in Orlando,
To being undeniably hated in Los Angeles and Houston,
To receiving indifference during his other stops,
To achieving the ultimate goal in his second go-round in LA,
To the Hall of Fame.
Dwight Howard was a dominant force.
And his dominance got rewarded.
Hoop Hall, it's not a bird.
It's not a plane.
