Boracay Magazine

Boracay Magazine Boracay's homegrown glossy magazine that celebrates the island's local culture, history, and community. www.boracaymagazine.net

BORACAY MAGAZINE's meaningful distinction from other publications that depict Boracay Island is its cultural and community perspective. Over and above depicting Boracay as a tourism destination, Boracay Magazine presents the island as a real place with a cultural identity, an inspiring history, and a vibrant, multilayered, international community comprised of locals, residents, expats, business ow

ners, artists, sports enthusiasts, professionals, environmentalists, tourism workers, and of course, the tourists themselves, whom the magazine approaches not just as passive consumers but as enlightened travelers interested in the heart and soul of places they visit.

Andrew Gritzka comes from a well travelled, artistic family living on the island of Boracay. His is a coming of age story, one that is just beginning to find its footing in the visual arts community. With a keen eye for the 'hidden' creatures and landscapes that make-up the underwater world, Andrew finds himself recreating what he experiences both through the lens and the pen. Coming from a generation aware of the changes in the environment, he instinctively builds his creations on the foundation of sustainability, whether he is conscious of this or not. He is driven by this fragile reality, it is after all, in his blood and upbringing. And it certainly comes out in his art. The future may be uncertain, but one thing is for sure, his is a startling new journey into the visual, allowing us to see through his own eyes and into a new and hidden world most of us shall never truly know.
